It's off to Ohio I go
Jul. 31st, 2009 11:23 amGone for the weekend. I'm doing a show in Ohio on Saturday and Sunday, and then stopping to see
lady_branwyn & her posse for an evening, and then back home.
I'm staying in a hotel tonight. Now, a couple of years ago, I would have said, "Four hours? I'll just drive down the day the show starts, and save myself a night in a hotel." But I find that I'm not so eager to do that anymore. The sleepiness during one of those early morning drives is absolutely the worst kind--even slapping myself on the face doesn't seem to work.
The bad side of this, though, is that all of my regular cheapo hotels were booked! I had to take something for $130 a night instead of $90. And for two nights, that really adds up. grah. (Thank goodness I didn't just wing it--I would have ended up staying miles away!)
But I just can't do the get-up-at-three-leave-at-four-get-there-at-eight thing now. Husband is extremely against that too, as he's actually tried to talk to me and keep me awake during a couple of those. Scary stuff.
See you late Monday night, flist!

Date: 2009-07-31 04:03 pm (UTC)That's the basic choice...and I'm glad you're making the right decision.
While you're gone, your husband will sleep better at night knowing that you're driving only when you're well-rested and alert.

That does make me happy, honestly. And it makes the $130 a little easier to deal with. ;)

Date: 2009-07-31 05:34 pm (UTC)Oh, do I hear you. Fifteen years ago I thought little of catching an 8 p.m. show at Stratford (three hours away) and then driving back the same night. No way could I do that now.
Wishing you good weather, safe journeying, and mucho sales! *hugs*

Date: 2009-07-31 05:39 pm (UTC)heh. I make the six to seven hour drive to WI each month with no worries, but that's usually during the day or the evening, both of which I can handle. However, getting up early in the morning and doing it? Turns me into a road!zombie. I don't think I can do it any longer. Hence, the hotel room.
Two hours, I might have tried. But four is right out. *nodnod*

Aw, you're the sweetest! Thank you so much! *giant hugs*
*crosses fingers*
