I just broke 80k on the Giant Scary Fic.

220 pages in Word. Though keep in mind that's with default settings (12 font, double-spacing between paragraphs, normal margins).

I'm in the middle of the Big Last Scene.

After this? The Tying Up of Loose Threads, and then the epilogue. I'm going to estimate another 6-8k for all of it.

I can't believe it.

(Last night I looked up when I started writing it--it was in March! Wow, I didn't realize it took me this long. Though, to be honest, I was gone here and there, so instead of six months, it's probably been more like three or four to write this.)

I amazes me to no end that you can stick with a story that long. Trips aside, that's still some serious dedication. Go you!

hee! Still, you're much more prolific, and that always amazes me. I think you have a bunch of mega-epics at this point, don't you? ;) This fic must appear wee next to them!

I think Something Missing was the longest. (154kb, 110 pages in Word, 8 parts on LJ, and 4 readers.) But I still wrote it in maybe two weeks, not counting beta. If it takes any longer than that, I tend to lose interest and wander off. So, I guess I'm prolific, but not really dedicated. Mausen are easily distracted. :)

Oh, wow, now I'm starting to realize--whenever I say "10k," I actually mean 10,000 words. I just assumed everybody meant that. lol!

The fic is actually 955kb at this point. lol. 80,000 words. crazy, huh?

Ah, wordcount. That does make more sense. My long ones tend to come in between 35,000 and 40,000 words. So this really is a GSF. I'm even more excited now!

I AM SO EXCITED TOO OMG.

This thing is really starting to come together. homg. I can't believe how little I have left!

I think I might be very sad when the writing is done. I've actually enjoyed writing this.

I know! It's so hard when it's finished and there's nothing left to do but send it out into the world and hope it will be loved. I feel like writing them is loving them, building them up and making them strong, and then suddenly you can't do it anymore. They can only be loved by others. Comments truly are love; they keep the story alive.

(If I've stopped making sense, it's because I've already had my evening meds. But I really think I haven't.)

Usually, by the time I'm done, I get totally with all of the posting stuff--you know, creating the "next" and "previous" links and all that crap. I mean, OCD, so I kind of like it, but by part 12 I think I'll be grinding my teeth.

Comments will make it all better, though! hahaha!

Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeebus. That's a hell of a fic. Congrats! Hope the Tying Up and epilogue go well. =D

(I do love writing short fics, but I may be a tiny bit envious of your ability to write lovely long things.)

I'm so freaking out with happiness. I just wish I wasn't leaving tomorrow--I want to stay and finish the story, hee!!

:)

And I'm surprised at writing a lovely long thing--everything else I write is generally 10k or below, y'know? *hugs*

Noooo!

Hee, I love that must-write-must-write feeling, but yeah, it does kinda suck when life has other plans. <3

ROFL even 10k is long for me. >_> BUT YES. It's kind of a great feeling when something longer than your usual can manage to make it onto paper.

Life is totally making plans for me--I'll be crazy for the next thirty days, seriously. I'll be lucky to remember which end is up.

But I have plans for my two trips away--I'm going to reread parts of the Odyssey. I have this little Riptide/Greek gods thing in my head that is quite possibly one of the weirdest ideas I've ever had, but I think it might have to be written. lol!

LOL weird can be good! Sometimes the oddest things turn out to be the best fics.

And hope you remember which end up is up! Heh. And to breathe, and whatnot.
