So I sent an email to the woman yesterday who felt the item was plastic and not glass. I had already sent the refund, and so I explained that I had sent a refund. I also wrote out a few methods of telling if the item in question is glass or not. And then I asked her, in my most belly-crawling tones, if she could tell me why she thought it was plastic.

She sent a reply explaining why she'd passive aggressively given me positive fb but a negative comment; she didn't want to harm my fb rating. Very nice, thanks, but this is one of my most popular items and now it bears the taint of being called plastic. (Fortunately, most people don't actually read the fb and it will get buried fairly quickly.)

Now, in the few other cases like this, the person has, of course, never replied.

But this customer did! Her reply to why she felt it was plastic?

"Both my husband and I felt it was plastic."

I am transfixed by rage right now. Not only are they both completely and utterly wrong--the item in question is probably actually crystal, to tell you truthfully--but that is not a why.

I've sent another email asking for a why, which will most likely not be returned.

(And yeah, I know that this is really stupid of me to be so pissed, but it's just tremendously irritating right now.)

I think I'd just leave it alone. Nothing's going to change and you'll only get more and more frustrated.

Remember the quote by Mark Twain: Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

I know you need answers and these things drive you crazy, but you've already given these people waaay more power than they deserve. When all your opponent can say is "I just feel that...", you can't argue. I once hit a car in a parking lot because I was backing out of a space and another woman started backing out across the aisle, saw me coming at her, stopped in my blind spot and honked her horn, which I didn't hear. The insurance adjuster, in blaming me for this, said "I just feel you were more at fault". Like they don't have guidelines or rules, just feelings. You can't fight that.

Time to tell her that if she can't tell the difference between plastic and crystal, or even glass, you can't help her. And you don't have anything else to sell her, either.

Tell her to get a hammer, break it and stab herself with the shards. Glass will go in deeper.

I love reading your ebay dramas. People are idiots. I'm sorry they leave comments that could effect your business. Sigh.

How bloody stupid can people get? Don't loose a nerve over such people. Ask her to smash it with a hammer, now that she's got a refund, and then cut her wrists with the dull plastic edges... That should take care of the likes of her.

Another communication masterpiece! Crazy, huh? I just wanted to know why...I didn't ask for a list of those who believe it's plastic. lol.

I totally think it's that the item got bid up a little higher than it should, and she was miffed. *nodnod*

Yeah, valis2, tell us where she is, you are bound to have at least one person in her neck of the woods. We can send our best bullies buddies and make sure she follows those "suggestions".

No, it's not a "why," but I'm sure she thinks it is. Idjits. Too bad eBay doesn't have a common sense requirement. :P
