LJ is going to purge INACTIVE accounts.

Not suspended accounts, inactive--if you haven't logged into an account or posted in more than 24 months, then you'll be sent an email, and then if you haven't replied in two weeks, it will be purged. So if you have any old RPG journals or comms or anything like that--and you don't want to lose them--then you might want to look at the link and check it out.

I was thinking--it might be time to let quirkyhpshorts go, hmm? I don't think anyone goes there any longer, after all.

I'm not sure what's up--I think they've had a lot of peeps who want certain usernames that are connected to blank journals. I kind of get that, in a way. But still, I'm a little concerned about other peeps. Some of my friends haven't been on in years, and that their comments will be gone, too...just makes me sad.

Wait a second. It says inactive means not logged into for 24 consecutive months AND has only one post (the welcome post). For a comm, this is extended to one post and no comments. So if the journal or comm has multiple posts and comments, it shouldn't be purged, even if you never log in again.

I don't pay a lot of attention to the talk, but I read the email that came out this morning before I saw your post. (I was late to LJ today.:) Maybe they had complaints and felt the need to back off it a little, because purging fic journals is cold.

I think you're right; I don't think the "one post" thing was there originally. OMG, the LJ people got a clue!! Almost immediately!! Will wonders never cease. 'Cause, yeah, I get the purging of suspended and empty inactive accounts, but the ones with content shouldn't be--especially since LJ said they wouldn't, once upon a time, if the comments I read are accurate.

I went to QP last night and made one single modpost just to have a post there, just so it wouldn't be deleted. There hasn't been any activity in three years, but I couldn't stand the idea of it being gone.

I waffle--sometimes I like to think that people go back to QHPS, but often I think that it's kind of deserted, but I can't help but not want that stuff to vanish. So maybe I will keep it around, just in case.
