Well, I'm back.
Jul. 26th, 2010 11:18 pmThe show was...meh. Meh. Could have been worse.
I'm getting really sick of saying "meh" about shows, lol.
I'm still really tired. I got home at about 5:15 or so, and immediately boxed seven eBay/Etsy orders, and ran directly to the PO and shipped them, and then came back and packaged eleven more eBay orders (clothing, this time), and then my auctions ended and I packaged four more eBay orders, and have been scanning like a madwoman because I have auctions to start tomorrow.
While up north, I watched Dreamgirls with my parents. For some reason my father kept thinking I had never seen it before, despite the fact that I actually saw it with him the first time I saw it. He kept asking me what I thought about it. It was very sweet. Anyway, Eddie Murphy rocks in his role and I really love Jennifer Hudson's performance. Danny Glover intrigued me this time, for some reason. There are some things about it that just don't gel for me, but overall, it's very enjoyable and the Detroit vibe is great.
Also, I had a wonderful conversation with
kitschicat on the way home, which has given me hope that my website might actually surface from the bog of procrastination that it has long been immersed in. Seriously. I was a little nervous about the other possible incarnations of my website, but this one sounds like a dream. I'll be able to combine my crafting blog and a commerce site, all through WordPress. I actually feel...hopeful.
Back to the scanning, and then to bed, and then back to work tomorrow to finish the Emergency Rush Rush Rush Project (no, it has nothing to do with Geddy Lee, sadly) and then home again to finish prepping the auctions. And then on the next day...Indiana.
I will have time to breathe again soon, I hope.

Date: 2010-07-27 04:13 am (UTC)I spoke to one of the people with Bud Plant's Art Books. They've been around since the 1970s (peddling stuff at cons and via their catalog/web site), selling art books that specialize in fan interests like classic American illustration, pin-ups, comics, pulps, etc. This year at San Diego ComicCon they only got 2 tables (they normally get 10 tables) and still didn't do much business. They told me it was a combo of the bad economy, people being low on funds, and the online marketplace (where people scour the 'net for the best deals for book prices).

Date: 2010-07-28 12:56 am (UTC)And everyone I know is downsizing as well. Even the shows are starting to disappear in some cases.
