A tape is stuck in my VCR!
I think one of the mechanisms that "pops" the tape out has finally given up.
It makes me sad. The VCR was a gift from an ex-fiancée. It's been part of my life for ten years. It is a great VCR. Or...it was a great VCR.
I'm so bummed. I love my sweet VCR...it has been a nice companion for ten years. It is still in terrific shape, excepting the part about the tape imprisoned within.
Just had to RAWR there. Thanks for listening.

Date: 2005-03-23 03:33 am (UTC)I understand...my vcr has been with me since I first went to universtity...we're talking the first degree...back in 1994. Yup...and I still have it! Lived through many a failed romance, my son attempting to mail things in it, and all sorts of moves where it was banged around. Soon departing to my new home in May.
I think I will have heartfailure when it goes...they really don't make them like they used to.
BTW: What tape was it?

The tape had an episode of House on it, and I was going to record the new episode of House over it. Thank goodness it wasn't the Black Swan...I was watching that a couple days ago and I would have been really upset. Not available on DVD, after all.

Date: 2005-03-23 11:26 am (UTC)It's a risky business I know, but my VCR has had several stuck-tape related incidents, and by poking around and shaking it a bit I've not had to let it go to that great corner-of-the-living-room in the sky yet.

Date: 2005-03-23 05:36 pm (UTC)I'm inclined to go along with the person who suggested the sticking-something-in-and-wiggling method.Or how about the gravity method? Tip it upside down and give it an encouraging shake?
I kept my old VCR for ages after it finally died. Why? It had been a constant back in the days of chaos. Sad, eh?
