Overhaul.

Yesterday I was feeling kind of paralyzed, and I really didn't know what to do next.

So today I rearranged my entire office.

For those of you who don't know, I work at home most of the time, and when we moved into this house I nabbed the master bedroom as my office. It was hard to figure out where to put the furniture because I have four desks and a table for photography, and of course there's the TV, the cubby-hole rack for papers, and the couch/coffee table. So I set it up in a way that I thought made sense.

I've had some growing dissatisfaction over this, though. First of all, my crafting supplies were in front of a window. Granted, I could put the shade down, but still; too much sunlight was getting in, and it can fade the supplies. Also, once in a while I can't use my aircard for the internet, and if I moved my computer I thought I might be able to get a better lock on the unsecured wireless in the area, just in case I have an issue again.

This morning I took a good hard look at the room, and rearranged everything in my head. And then I thought, "Oh, I'll do it later." But it got more and more strident, this desire to move everything around, and in the early afternoon I just started moving things. I scrapped my original idea and went with a modified idea. The crafting desk has become the bill/printer desk, my computer desk has joined it, so now I have a window in front of me when I work on the computer, which is kind of nice. And the crafting desk and supply rack are now against the other wall.

Even better, the bill desk, which was larger and had more shelves, has become the crafting desk. So now I have all this space and I can actually spread out my crafting stuff. And I think it's kind of a good sign, like I'm taking it more seriously and I really want to make a go at it. I hope.

So far I'm liking the new arrangement, except the TV is partially blocked by a chair so we have to move it when we sit down to watch Incredible Hulk each night. And the old crafting desk is not really big enough for the three printers and the scanner.

That's okay, though. I think the new advantages outweigh the cons.

Every once in a while I get the urge to rearrange my work area. But I don't think I have as much furniture as you do..

What's wonderful is that the room is big. Not terribly big, but big enough. In the old small apartment bedroom, I actually had to climb over the arm of the couch to get to my jewelry desk, and once seated behind it I was loath to leave. So that caused me to procrastinate getting back there, because invariably I would realize that I'd left something somewhere and I'd have to get out to retrieve it.

This is actually spacious in comparison, though everyone who sees it kind of boggles over how much is crammed in here.

Sadly, I will never take a pic of the room to share it; too easy to see what I do, and also there are so many Paypal sheets and other confidential things everywhere that I would despair about having to smudge details on everything. lol.

Anyway, so far this is a hit. I'm liking it and I think it will make me want to craft more often.

I hear you on rearranging the room. It's what I wanted to do since last year - hence I'm so impatient to finally move to the new flats. Because it makes no sense to change things now any more. But, damn, I need some change!

I am tentatively liking this, though it's a little disorienting. I keep trying to sit down at the wrong desk. lol!

I'm still rearranging, and I have a big pile of stuff that needs to find a new home (sigh). Otherwise, though, so far it's a success.

There you go! Good on you for reenvisioning and then making it so. When the room is to your liking, the energy will flow better, the creativity will spark even more than your usual high volume, and the world will be a better place. Yay! I love organization stuff...and I love reading about it. Pictures too, maybe someday? :-)

I am starting to like it in here! I think it was an excellent change, seriously, and I wish I had done it sooner.

I do feel a little energized! Now if I could just get that last pile of leftover stuff put away.

Pictures, sadly, cannot be taken. There are far too many incriminating details abounding on every surface. lol!

My brain just insisted on it, and since I've been so not getting anything done that I should, I did something that I really didn't need to do. LOL!

Now that it's done, though, I kind of like it, so that was a good thing. Plus, vacuuming was done, so that's always helpful. :)

I'm fairly happy that I did it! It's taken some getting used to, and I'm still tweaking, but so far I'm pleased with having more room to craft. :)

And yes, it's an excellent feeling having a space that is exciting and new, and less dusty, as well. *grins*
