I've been sorting merchandise today. I kind of missed my chance to craft/list a new item on Etsy, and I also missed my chance to restock eBay. But that's okay; I can do so tomorrow, I think.

The day was kind of a good day, in two different ways. On one hand, I managed to sort through a lot of new merchandise, and I feel good with the progress. I'm looking forward to finishing.

I also finished the giant meta post about the giant Riptide fic. All done, posted, tl;dr, thank goodness. So I finally feel like I've wrapped up that year of effort with a big bow, and now I'm looking forward to writing something else.

I am starting to think thoughts about poetry. I don't write a lot of it, and I think I would write more if I felt I could share it somewhere. And that got me thinking; I don't think I will ever be published as a poet, and that entire struggle of getting into the dwindling poetry mags is just not something I want to engage in. There's only one mag I would try for at this point (Calyx), and that's about it. So what I'm thinking is that I will just start posting my poetry here, if I write anything. I mean, why not? You guys are my writing group, honestly. And since there's very little chance that I would be published, it's not an issue about it being out in a public space.

I think I just convinced myself to go ahead with it. Don't worry--I'll put it behind a cut.

I'm going to read some more Hawaii 5-0 fic and go to bed. (I'm nearly through skimming the entire Steve/Danno community. I've found a handful of yum, it's been great.)

On the topic of H50 fic, check out lamardeuse and hermette, both tend to keep their fingers on the fic pulse and rec the really great stuff. If you want some of the best of the best, they'll be the ones to link to it. Much easer then trying to filter though all the meh and bleck stuff you get just going through everything on a comm in order to find the Yay and the \o/ mixed in. ::chuckles::

I absolutely love lamardeuse's stuff--it's phenomenal. Just amazing.

And lol--it's too late about the comm advice; I'm almost to the very first entry (I worked backwards from now), so I've seen the meh and blech stuff already. *grins* But I did find some great fic and I'm very glad I went through it all.

Let's see...stevedannoslash is the one I'm wading through right now. I'm up to episode 2, so I must be close to the end. The other one I went through, I only went through the fics marked h/c.

Ah! It was hawaii5_0slash.

And yeah, I can have a lot of patience to find yum h/c fic. When I first started reading fanfic, I went through 300 pages of Snape-centric fics at ff.net. Took me a few months, but I wanted to find good stuff. ;)

I'd love to see more of your poetry. I started with this poetry workshop last year on my journal, but it got almost no resonance and then I got overwhelmed with the whole flat situation and I stopped. But there is still a second half I would like to post - and hopefully inspire a few poems and discussions about poetry.

I really wanted to get into the poetry discussion, but at the time I think I was super busy, and I still feel guilty about that!

I definitely would like to get back into writing it regularly. Writing poetry is so different from writing fic, and it uses different "muscles." I have such a love of poetry and I would love to put it out there and talk about it with other poetry peeps. :)

Yes! Post it! I'd love to read it. 80% of my creative writing output from age four to sixteen was poetry, and it seems, at least lately, that there are so few people left who write it. I'd love to read yours.

omg, I was the same way!! I wrote SO much poetry (I've posted some of it on here ages ago). In fact, there were a couple that I really should post here because they were amusingly strange.

I'm so glad to have finished it and put up the (very long) afterwords. SO GLAD. I mean, I feel this huge glowing triumpth, even though at the same time I feel a little bereft. I miss writing it, in a way.

And hooray for poetry! I'll warn you; it will be strange. I am strange. My poetry is strange. :)
