Chapter 66 is done. Thank goodness. Longest chapter ever for me...4200 words. (Nothing compared to [livejournal.com profile] junediamanti and [livejournal.com profile] mariannelee, but for me, wow.) It did not flow as easily as other chapters have, but I am happy with the finished piece, or as happy as I'll ever be.

Much to do, and then to bed.

ETA: My goodness, I already have a review. *boggles*

Congrats. 66 chapters not so dusty. I expect to make 63 max. Though the present one is currently at 14,000 words and I expect it to end up about 24,000.

Too damn much, but that will be it, thank goodness.

I am so jealous that you are at the end! Lucky gal. I wish I were that close. I feel kind of like I'm at the final plateau, and it just looks lengthy. I'm going to have to jump around time-wise, much as I don't want to, because I still have two months of story time left...I've done two months in 66 chapters...the next two will have to fit in 20, because I want to finish it.

In timeline terms, there is actually about three hours left of action. And I now have 15,000 words done. The part I've written will be a lot more when I have it polished becaue I write a very outlined first draft, then pad it and embellish it.

After a three week dry spell, this sort of motoring is rather delightful. I've done 6,000 words since Monday!

That final plateau bit is hard, because you realise you have to get this bit right. Plus it's easy to whinge on about having to write it, but scary to know what life will be without something I've been working on since November 2003.

6,000 words? Wowza, congrats!

I really want to finish...this is holding up so many other things that I want to write. It's been over a year, after all!

I have to be certain I get the romantic balance right in this last plateau...I don't want to have people rushing headlong at each other, but I don't want the regular readers to be angry either.

It took me *all day* to read the whole thing - though I must admit I had little breaks in between, made lunch, brewed a potion, et cetera - and I enjoyed every bit of it. I have not come across a fic that I have enjoyed like this in *ages*... so, thanks! Oh, and - more please! ;)

p.s. Hermione is so *annoying* in your fic, in a very swotty know-it-all way, as it should be. :-)

p.p.s It's great how you began in the traditonal way - with Harry at Privet Drive, ir really made me feel as though it *could be* book 6.

*runs around cheering and shouting* You've read it!! Frabjous day!

I'm so glad you enjoyed it!! w00t!!! That means so much to me. I really appreciate that you took the time to read it...this is awesome!

And yes, Hermione annoys me in the books sometimes, especially OotP. When she did the blackmail routine on Rita I was astonished. And then the magical contract thing...at this point I believe she'd do quite a bit to get what she wants for Harry and to keep him safe. I thought that tLS was a logical extension of that, but several reviewers have mentioned that they don't think Hermione is IC in it.

If I did it over again I would excise the Harry subplot...I'm not as interested in the Trio, and I think I could have written a much shorter and more concise fic without Harry's viewpoint.

Congrats! I remember the first time I passed the 4000 word mark... in chapter 9. I'm tending towards longer chapters - but I think it really depends on your writing style.

I like shorter chapters, usually, but the events involved have warranted long ones recently. It all depends on where I can make the cut for the next chapter.

The beginning chapters are too short, some of them, and if I had unlimited time I'd combine a few.
