So tired I can barely stay awake. Fifteen days of near constant, physically demanding work. Whew!

Glad to be home. Surprised at a couple defriendings, and welcome to the new LJers who friended me while I was gone.

Wish I could write up something witty, but I'm just so out of it. Am looking forward to reading two weeks' worth of entries from the flist!

*hugs*

Welcome back! :-) I've been waiting patiently, with a question. My father wants to know what a certain symbol on a tombstone might mean. It looks like a dollar sign, but has three lines running through it, instead of two. Any idea, O Great Graveyard Expert?

Hmm...I'm not familiar with that symbol! But I'll ask my gravestone mailing list if they have any idea. I assume this is a gravestone in Australia?

I've learned that the best way to do it is to look at one LJ at a time. Too much, and it's information overload, and I get way confused. If I look at each flister one at a time, then I can process it a lot better, and then I can see which entry is their latest and comment to that easily if necessary.

Bizarrely enough, just received a possible answer from the mailing list:

The symbol which appears to be a dollar sign with three lines is probably a monogram of IHS, the abbreviation for Christ in Greek. I have seen it in other places, but not on a gravestone.

Could be what it means.

I see exactly what they mean. My father saw it at the Watson's Bay cemetary (I think that is what it's called), though it looks more like a necropolis to me... It's 8.00 am here now - my father's probably just got to work. I'm off to use the Floo.

My father says 'thank you', as well. It turns out that my grandfather also wants to know. :)
