So I had made plans to meet [livejournal.com profile] deepforestowl. Now we've made plans to meet before, and something always happens to spoil it, so I was a little afraid that these plans would be disrupted again.

So she was going to stop at the apartment on the way home from another friend's house. I had originally scheduled myself to work on that day, but I took it off so that I'd have the entire day free.

Yesterday at work they had a crisis, and asked me to come in today. I said I could come in for a few hours, because I was thinking that owl wouldn't be here until the early afternoon. I was really surprised that they asked me to come in; honestly, they ask me to come in on my day off about once every year or two. It's a really uncommon thing.

Well, we didn't email each other much over the weekend, and I was getting a little paranoid. So then I thought, well, I'll just go into work and leave a new message on my cell phone that tells her to call my work number, because I can't have my cell phone on at work. I thought, she'll just call me when she gets close, and I'll drive home (forty-five minutes) and meet her there.

My phone never rang at work, so I punched out at 11:50 and turned on my cell phone in the parking lot. There is a message from her, telling me that she's already there, and that she doesn't have a cell phone and can't make another call, and she'll wait til 12:30.

So I drive home like a crazy person, all the while thinking, it would suck if she left just before I get there, and I won't know, because she'll probably drive a different route.

So I pull into the apartment complex, and a few cars are pulling out, and I think, hey, I wonder what the chances are that one of them is her, and...one of them was. I then went into extended how-the-hell-do-I-signal-her mode, because it's not like she knows what I look like. Heh. And it doesn't quite sink in until she's nearly passed me, so I am reduced to making unintelligible hand signals out the window of my car.

Thank goodness she figured out who I was and what I was doing.

So we had a lovely, indepth conversation about LJ and friends and fanfiction and magic in the HP universe and interesting writers and what makes a great story. It was awesome! I could have talked to her for hours. :)

Yay! That was really lucky. I've never met up with an LJ person before, though I guess I will some day. I've had the opposite thing happen - an RL person appearing on LJ. It certainly makes for a good conversation topic.

I could have talked for hours too. LOL I just got home about 30 minutes ago. I am going to shower and get some sleep. The drive zonked me out. It was awesome chit chatting. We'll have to do it again the next time you come through. squee!

:) It was so much fun! I loved being able to babble with you, finally.

That drive really does get to you. I know that I'm usually pretty zoned by the time I get to WI.

The heat made me crazy along with the glare. I think the glare might have been worse than the heat actually. But I am home now and doing laundry and catching up on a thousand things. LOL

It is quite interesting to see what people are like in RL and how it compares to what you think they're like based on what you see online.
