Horrible. No good. Very bad.

Normally I do not schedule more than one at a time, unless I've been to the store before. But the owner wanted to schedule two. The last one wasn't good, but I had already committed to the next one, so I felt I had to do it.

It was a trunk show, which means I was set up within a store with a few of my tables. Normally I show up to a store in the morning, set up, and sit all day, waiting on customers.

Well, this store, the owner doesn't like getting up early, so I have to get there the night before and set up. And because they have some sort of customer get-together every Friday night, they don't close until 10 pm, so I have to set up just before they close, because I can't leave the merchandise unsupervised. So I show up and set up (45 minutes driving round trip).

Next morning I get there.

Most of the very few sales I made came from store employees. I mostly sat around and wrote lists about the things I need to do.

And, of course, fielded plenty of inane questions from the few customers that wandered into the store.

One actual conversation between customer and employee:

"Do you have [item]?"
"Yes, we do."
"Do you have smaller [item]?"
"Yes, we have micro-[item]."
"Are they smaller?"

I met a woman who was an atmospheric chemist, but she didn't linger long enough to have an interesting conversation.

I sat and lingered in Severus daydreams, thinking, I postponed GoF for this?

It was a total waste of time. In fact, I think I only just barely broke even. I wish that I could have done some writing, but I didn't want to appear too out of it. I don't think most people mind a little list making, but actively becoming absorbed in pages of scribbling...heh.

It sucks when you get nothing accomplished (and make little money) when you know you could have been doing something more fun. Do see Glblet of Fire. It will make you feel better.

Heh...saw it that evening (http://www.livejournal.com/users/valis2/142918.html)...but you're right, I really hated sitting around there, when I could have just as easily sat around here. *laughs*

Ah, yes. We need a sucky show once in a while to remind us to appreciate the decent shows even more.
