FictionAlley has been upgraded beautifully! There is a lovely new search engine, a listing of all authors by name, and new author pages to add information to! I'm quite excited.

[livejournal.com profile] merry_smutmas has begun!

I'm still trying to figure out what one does here...obviously, it's supposed to be a secret about who wrote what, so you can't reply to any comments about your fic until it's revealed...do people go back and comment when it's revealed, or do they do it anon? The first few fics are up, and it doesn't look like the authors are responding, so my guess is that nothing is commented upon or mentioned until the big reveal at the end of the month.

I'm so geeked!

Mmm...spaghetti/Survivor/CSI OTP. I love Thursdays.

I was wondering about that with the Snupin Santa exchange at [livejournal.com profile] lupin_snape. They just turned on anon comments, I guess, so the author could reply if they wanted to. Haven't decided what I would do, though - shall watch to see what your flist recommends!

The thing is, I hear it's kind of a guessing game (last year I just read the fics, didn't know enough people (nor was I participating) to be able to guess), and I'm wondering if comments might give a bit of an advantage in figuring the author/artist out. Not that it really matters, honestly, as it's all for fun, but I have a feeling that most people probably stay mum. I think I will.

Saw your pimping thread...I did that once, a while ago. It's a lot of fun! I think that there are a lot of people in the fandom who don't celebrate their talents loudly enough, and it's nice to have such an outlet. :)

Come back and pimp yourself! I only have 2.5 reply-pimps right now. :(

I think staying mum is probably the best idea. You're definitely right that comment replying could give away an identity. I would so totally slip up somehow. :) And anyway, I'm about 99% certain my identity will be blatantly obvious when the story is posted!

Heh...no one's going to recognize me! :) I've never written slash before, and I'm on almost nobody's flist, so I'll be the ultimate guess-killer.

Oh, I'll have to stop at the pimp meme again, then, and see what I can throw out there. :)

I'd been wondering the same thing, so I took a look through last year's entries. It looked as if some people had responded anonymously to comments, and others had waited until January (slightly more waiters than anonymous responders from my random sampling). I'd say which I'd settled on, but then I'd be giving a clue ;). Actually, I'm curious to see if anyone guesses which story I wrote; I'm not sure if I have such a distinctive style that it's recognizable or not.

Yeah, I was going to be all logical and check the older entries, but instead I just posted about it and my flist did it for me! How's that for lazy? *laughs*

I don't think anyone will recognize me...I've never written slash before, and I'm not on almost any of the flists of the other smutmasers...

Well, I'll let you know if I think I've guessed you! Historically I'm a terrible guesser, though, so don't count on me ;).

...do people go back and comment when it's revealed, or do they do it anon?

Yes. :-) You can do it either way, and people have done both. It's up to you. Just, if you do decide to respond to your feedback anon, please log out before doing so, because it's so easy to forget to click that radio button that takes you anon if you're logged in.

Me too! He thought he had everyone played, all in the palm of his hand. They got him good. I was so glad I think I shouted 'YES!' when Jeff said his name. And then he calls everyone scumbags as he leaves. What a classy guy. And he still keeps insisting he never lied about anything. WTF? Just three days before that when Gary exposed his lying, he admitted to it. I think he has short-term memory problems or something. Or maybe he's just a stupidass who doesn't realize how dumb he looks when he tells lies on camera and then insists he's never done such a thing.

Ha! Husband and I cheered as well. I mean, he lied his ass off about the immunity idol, admitted it then swears he never lied. Fucktard.

He was just so sure of himself and acted as such. He was a loudmouth and honestly? After the merge, the tribe didn't need him anymore. His strength isn't needed in the challenges. I'm actually surprised Rafe is doing as well as he is in the challenges. Ooo...Steph was so pissed at Dani tonight (hate her stupid hat). I'm so pulling for Steph to win. Husband and I love her and think she deserves it. And she's got great eyebrows. I wish I could pluck/wax like that.

The funniest part is: have you noticed that every season, whoever wins the visit with their family is always the next one out? Has he never noticed this? Or was he just so sure of his position that it couldn't happen to him? I told hubby while we were watching, "If I ever get on the show, don't even waste your time coming to try and visit me. You win the visit, you're the next one out. If you do come, I'll just wave to you from across the clearing. That's it."

And yeah, he isn't too bright about his strength, either. When they were two tribes, he was needed to help the team win. But after it's individual? No, then your strength is just a threat to your position. Everyone knows that.

I'm glad Rafe is doing well, I hope he makes it to the final four. Even better if he wins. He's at least an honest, decent person. Not doing too much posturing or bald-faced lying. I like Steph too, but don't know if I want to see her win. Part of me thinks she already had her chance, the other part thinks she really should have won it last time, so if she wins, she's getting something that she should have had.

Too bad CSI was a repeat. :(

Though sometimes it's not a great idea to eat spaghetti during CSI.
