I have a Darton bow that is free to a good home in the continental US. I will cover shipping costs entirely. Taker must be 18 or older.

It's a 25-45 lb compound bow. Also, a dozen arrows. NOTHING ELSE COMES WITH THE BOW. I do not have any of the alternate pullies. I don't have anything, actually. It was a gift for my sixteenth birthday, and even though it was brand new from the store, the package of extras that comes with it was strangely missing, and I never looked into getting it sent to me.

Anyway, free to first taker. Keep in mind that I MUST have your address to send it. Just reply with your email address, and I'll email you, and you can send me your shipping address. It's in very good condition, was barely used.

Claimed!

I'm very very tempted by this...

...and then I remember that I have a very fine 45lb recurve bow that I never use these days (partly because I have no range set up, partly because I have no arrows).

*sends hyp-mo-tizing rays through the interwebs*

You waaaaaaant it.

You waaaaaaant it.

Did I mention it comes with twelve arrows? Or maybe it's just six. I can't remember now.

Let me know if your final answer is "no", because [livejournal.com profile] cactus_wren says that she'd like it if you don't want it. :)

Oh, duh, helps if I read the whole post first - cactus_wren@livejournal.com - we've emailed before, you probably have it already.

Hi, cactus_wren! I recall that you live in my neck of the woods. Where do you go to shoot? I shoot a 40-pound longbow. I can't safely setup a range in my yard, so my husband and I practice at Albion Woods in the Metroparks in Strongsville. It has the advantage of being free, but it is outdoors which makes archery a seasonal sport for us. The only indoor ranges I know of are way over on the east side.
Hope you enjoy the new bow!
Branwyn

Well, we've used my daughter's bow in the backyard - but it's a kid's bow and I'm always afraid it'll break when the hubby or I try it. It's not a compound bow, it's uh, a regular bow - basically, she wanted a bow like Legolas from LOTR, heh. I think we'll try this one in the backyard at first, but it's good to know there's a place in the Metroparks to use it. Is there an actual range at Albion Woods? I can't imagine being allowed to just use a bow anywhere in the Metroparks.
We have a friend who used to have a gun shop in Sheffield - that's where we bought the kids bow - and he had a range out in back. But he's closed now. I'm thinking he may know of places closer than the east side to shoot. I'll let you know if we find any. Hubby also has some relatives with farms out in Ridgeville, so we may go there, too. I'd really like to get back into target shooting, we used to go all the time before we had kids. It's been far too long since we've gone to do that.

Yes, Cleveland Archery Club has an arrangement with the Metroparks; they maintain an outdoor range (bales of hay are set up from late April through October, though you need to bring your own paper plate, I mean target). During club events, the range is closed to the public; otherwise, it is open shooting. The club schedule is posted at the site. Besides the archery club folks, some bow hunters use the range, but there is usually plenty of room for everyone. Like you, I have gotten out of practice and miss shooting. Though all the rain this summer has put a damper on my good intentions. :-)

[livejournal.com profile] cactus_wren may have it with my blessings. I'd rather it go to someone who will love it and use it. (And I really do like my recurve bow, and should just buy some arrows and put a few hay bushels in the pasture to shoot at.)
