I've been reading some entries recently about reviews and reviewing, and it's made me think.

Concrit is an art and can be a blessing, if it's valid. It's lovely and beautiful, but it takes a rare reviewer to open herself up to the difficulty of leaving it. Most of the reviews I've received have been positive; only rarely have I received anything that contains a word of advice.

So I'm asking for a bit of help. If you've read anything I've written, and you have some advice for me, please leave it. I am very aware of some of the flaws in my writing; it would be helpful to hear what readers have to say.

Do not think that I will hold it against you. Do not think that I will be devastated forever (I do that to myself on a regular basis, anyway). Anything is fair game. If you want to do it anon, go right ahead.

One hope, though. If you could mention which fic, or which kind of fic you're talking about, it would help (for example, poetry, tLS, short stories, etc.) a lot more.

I feel exactly the same way. I think concrit or no-concrit would be a useful addition to fic headers.

Some people don't want it at all, because they're just having fun, honestly. And some people are using the HP waters to test themselves...to practice for their original work. I'm definitely in the latter category.

I've tried leaving concrit before for people, and it just doesn't always work. Sometimes they're just not open to it; they're just having a good time. And I've come to the conclusion lately that email is probably the better route for any substantial bit of concrit. Then again, I wonder, who am I to give concrit anyway? Heh.
