Book Meme
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 4 sentences on your LJ along with these instructions.
5. Don’t you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.
6. Tag five people.
I've done this before, but it's always fun to see what's nearest now.
Well, truth be told, it's a dictionary. But since it doesn't really contain sentences, I'll pick up the book underneath it, which is, of course, PS/SS. heh.
"Oh--well, I thought it might have been one of Fred and George's jokes," said Ron. And have you really got--you know..."
He pointed at Harry's forehead.
Harry pulled back his bangs to show the lightning scar.
Always have to have those near! For writing purposes, of course. *giggles*
I tag...no one! I am valis, meme-killer! Look upon me and weep!

Date: 2006-08-10 04:31 pm (UTC)Oh wait... that page has a picture on it, no text besides a caption. I'll go with 125 instead:
The beginnings of the sit-in movement in February 1960 and the succeeding crisis period that came to be called "the Lawson affair" in the Divinity School and the University demonstrated how naive that belief would have been. Dean J. Robert Nelson was one casualty of that crisis, and his resignation from the faculty was a condition of the final agreement. Despite their magnitude, the events of the Lawson affair proved to be only a beginning in the institution's engagement with southern and national culture on the issues of racial justice. Other theological institutions would perhaps learn from Vanderbilt's experience, but none in the country would be unaffected by similar presentations of issues relating to race, religion, and culture over the next four decades.
Actually, that was a pretty interesting excerpt.
