Hmmm.

I haven't had people over in ages.

I was thinking about possible party ideas, and one occurred to me...Retro Games Night.

I'll be home for three months (nearly), with only one trip, so this is a perfect time to have a little get-together. I have lots of obsolete game systems, complete with plenty of games. I have an Atari 2600, an Intellivision, an Odyssey 2, Pong, NES, SNES, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis (CD), Turbografx 16, along with Gamecube & PS2 (I may run out and get Xbox tomorrow with Fable). The Atari games are absolutely hysterical. You just have to see the Indiana Jones one to realize how misguided movie-to-video-game ports used to be.

Anyway, I thought...I'll pull the two TVs into the living room, set them up with all of these systems, and have all the games nearby, and we can just swap off systems all night long and drink.

Does this sound like fun, or does it sound idiotic?

I think it sounds like fun! I adore video games (but don't get to play much since I had my son) and still have my NES, SNES, N64 and my Atari 2600. My husband suggested I give my SNES to his little brother (who is 8) and I nearly passed out from lack of oxygen. Give up my Final Fantasy 3, Secret of Evermore, Secret of Mana, Illusion of Gaia, Breath of Fire? I don't think so!

Sounds like fun!

I have all of those except for Breath of Fire.

Secret of Evermore has to be one of my favorite games of all time! And I am a giant fan of the Final Fantasy games. Definitely. Secret of Mana is terrific.

Did you ever play Chrono Trigger? If you haven't, you MUST race out to the nearest used game store and pick it up. I actually played it three times through. An excellent game! Very varied and totally engaging.

Oh Gods, YES! SquareSoft games were my all-time favorite. I've played ChronoTrigger quite a few times (to get the different endings). When I was pregnant with my son and on bed rest, I played through ChronoTrigger, Secret of Evermore, Secret of Mana, the Zelda's and lots of other RPG games I hadn't played in a long time. It was sooooo much fun to revisit some favorites.

::sighs::

Now I'm going to have to play again when the baby goes to bed. He's 3 and always wants to 'play' too...and he's way too smart to realized that his controller isn't doing anything...lol.

I loved "Link to the Past" so very, very much. I played that through twice.

Glad you've played ChronoTrigger!

Did you ever play Arcana on the SNES? It was a terrific game. First person perspective, lots of fun!

Some of those games had such repetitive music that I would turn the music down and simply play fun CDs. Every time I play Arcana I get the urge to listen to the Scorpions and Matthew Sweet, *grin*.
