I'm getting all antsy online, and it culminated in a near freakout while trying to finish listings for eBay. See, I'm all superstitious about it; I only list Mon-Thurs between 8 and 10 pm. I stagger it, too. If my listings end on a Wednesday, I start the next batch on Thursday.

So I hate doing listings on Thursday, because if I miss any I feel like I can't just list them on Friday because no one will be online to bid. Or at least I think so. So while I'm trying to watch the only two shows I ever really watch regularly(CSI/Survivor) I'm also listing at the same time, which makes me anxious, because I don't want to screw anything up. And now that I'm using Turbo Lister (which I'm still fumbling around with, this is only the second time I've used it), it's making me even more antsy.

And because I've come back from a week away, there's the weird anxiety about having too many tabs open, and yet continuing to open more as I slowly work through the flist. Each tab is a pretty big thing at this point, either an essay or a long fic, and I feel like I can't "leave" the computer to do other things that need to be done---because I'm not "finished". I really have to break myself out of this bizarre mental hangup.

Just another evening in the cluttered neurotic attic of the valismind.

Yanno, I only list eBay items on Saturday and Sunday. What I've found is that people want to be there when the auction closes so they can get in those snipes, and people don't shop during the work week. (There is a lot of sniping in the doll market.) It raises the final price for me.

You are entitled to be as neurotic as you like on the internet. No one here has to live with you. It's G you should worry about. (kidding!)

Hmm. I didn't have a lot of luck doing weekend listings, I seem to better with weekday listings. Perhaps I should try a weekend listing once to see if it works.

The problem with it is that I'm not home on a lot of weekend days, so it would screw with my schedule.

;) I'm always afraid about dropping too many neuroses on your heads...glad to know I have a free pass!

Wow, your mind works so much like mine some times. Even when I'm just trying to catch up on the flist after a weekend or researching several different things, I have a weird "tied to the computer" feeling. This is especially true with a lot of tabs open. I can imagine it only gets worse when you're doing work-related stuff in some tabs and also trying to read large entries!

How do I release myself from this? I've been bookmarking the fics I want to read and setting them aside for later. It's usually the one thing I feel can wait and enjoy at a later time. That said, it's still hard to get away when there are so many great things to read.

Yeah, I have the same trick, I also put the fics into bookmarks. But the essays! They linger! And I just can't save them for later...they expire, you know. *laughs*

Isn't there an option when you list to tell when you want the listing to show up/become effective? I thought I'd seen something like that when I listed some things. That way you could put everything together on a non Survivor/CSI night and schedule the auction to begin whatever date you wanted.

Yeah, but I'm a cheap bastard, and it costs ten cents for each delayed listing. :(

I actually preffer to list mine so it runs over the weekend, because I think more people bid on weekends, myself. I have always had good success. If it's any better, list on Fridays for a 5-day run, then you get weekdays in there, too. People can bid from home, or from the office on Monday.

Hmm...some good suggestions there. I really should try one more weekend set, to see what happens. Thanks!

I have never sold anything on E-bay (though I have been a buyer), so do you think anyone would be interested in the following pricelss treasures, unearthed during fall demolition cleaning?

1. Teamsters Bakers Union Local #507 sherry carafe and matching glasses. Engraved "Jackie Presser, secretary." Received years ago from husband's late Uncle Tony.
2. Male and female porcelain dragon statues, made in Japan. You can tell the sexes apart by the number of horns. They were a wedding gift. I may relent and keep them because they are kinda cute if useless.

The problem with both of these items would be the shipping. You'd probably end up having to use large boxes with lots of material, and high shipping costs scare people away.

I've done a few sales of weird items like that, and if they sell at all, they usually end up selling for $1-$3. :(

Aw, I know what you mean. Right now, three hours have passed since I have returned from a course back to my home. I have rushed to the grocers to buy some fresh fruits and salad, started the laundry machine, and then opened I don't know how many tabs in my browser just to get back to my f-list. And I don't want to leave until I'm "finished".

I always feel bad for neglecting my other duties when I stick to my f-list like that, but I cannot help it. It's good to hear that you have the same habit.

I also bookmark the fics. But I never comment on the essays, just because commenting on an essay is so much harder than commenting on a fic. I have given up on the essays until I have more time or am able to write as quick in English as in German. I am not *that* slow, but still, it's a different thing.

I like to read the essays in a timely matter because a) if I have to comment, I like to comment promptly, because essays "expire" rather quickly, and b) sometimes other people make reference to them in their essays, and I like to be informed.

Fics can wait because...well...feedback is always appreciated! No one cares if it's a week after the posting or a year, in my opinion.

I'm still looking at twenty tabs, argh!

PS: I might need a bit of English translated into German in the near future for tLS. Would you be interested?

You are right about the essays being a timely matter. I always get the feeling that people are so brilliant with those essays that it would take me too much time to answer correctly, because the words to choose are much more crucial than when commenting on a fic. And I don't want to comment with something badly written.

I might need a bit of English translated into German in the near future for tLS. Would you be interested?

Thank you so much for asking. I would be honoured to help you.
