...well, for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, at least.

If you remember my spring pics of the flowering trees, I offer you this unusual pic I just shot today of the very same tree:

I saw the flower yesterday, and was astonished. None of the other trees have a single bloom on them, yet here it is, a spring flower, stubbornly facing the frost.

How very pretty, even if its seasonal timer is a bit 'off'...

We're supposed to get a hard freeze tomorrow night, I believe, which does not bode well for the very, very late peaches that my tree is trying to produce. I think they're too young to even pick and try to ripen on the windowsill...

Still, I'm ready for fall; having 4 separate seasons is one of the reasons I live where I do. ;-)

Your poor tree! It's so busy trying to burst forth and multiply, desiring nothing more than to distribute its fruit, only to be cut off by that naughty winter chill...

I know! When I saw the wee-baby little things a few weeks ago while mowing, I remembered the late flowers I saw in the spring/early summer. These must be from those, and they just didn't get enough growing season in!

The flower that blooms last is the most beautiful flower of all...okay, that was my Mulan moment for the day. ;)

Goodness, how lovely. Things like that just make me smile. It's a perfect day here, all warm and sunny, so I walked the long way home and enjoyed the sun and last days of trees that are still almost entirely green. I'm such a late spring/summer/early fall person it's not even funny. Winter sucks, yar. It needs to stop snowing after about Jan 15. *sigh* But in the meantime, fall will be gorgeous, and should I see a pretty pink flower like that, well. *g*

It's beautiful here as well, but I miss the spring flowers and the giant bumbly-bees.

I'm really not looking forward to winter. Thank goodness I'll be in AZ for part of it (two-three weeks).

These trees really are beautiful. They haven't started turning yet, either. In fact, everything seems to be turning rather slowly.

When it snows this weekend, however, that will change... :(

aw, valiant flower. Did it get fooled by a cold period followed by a warm period or something?

I'm not certain! It's rather strange, though. Poor widdle twee!

Love the icon.

How beautiful and stubborn. :-) *adores the flower*

Here, it's getting cold as well, especially in the mornings, while the afternoons are still warm and sunny. The weather is fine, but I don't like that darkness is already taking over. I'm glad when we will set the clock back one hour in another couple of weeks, because the mornings won't be so dark then.

Yeah, it is pretty sad when I get up to go to work in the morning, and it's dark out. Though I have seen a couple fantastic sunrises recently.
