Just trying to write this down so I don't confuse myself later.

Wednesday, 7 pm Rendezvous: Bourbon Street Rendezvous, which begins in the Sheraton Lobby. Meet up for drinks and partying on Bourbon St. We will have a scavenger hunt. Must be of age to get into the establishments on Bourbon Street. Bring your digital cameras to add to the fun. Please RSVP by April 15th to sign up. Still deciding about this one, but I think it could be fun.

Thursday, 1-5:30 pm The Quidditch Pitch Rendezvous at the Pelican Bar - Sheraton Hotel. Meet the faces behind the pen names. Let's get to know each other. Fun and chat about Harry Potter in the lounge.

Thursday, 7 pm Welcoming feast

Friday, 10 am Slasher Breakfast at the Café Du Monde. We'll discuss slash and its new popularity in fandom. We'll also write a few drabbles and drink a good bit of coffee.

Friday, noon Snape Slash Luncheon at the Roux Bistro at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel. Lunchtime a bore? Do you like to read or write slashy Snape fan fiction? If you do, this is for you. Come join other Snape Slashers for a bite to eat and to discuss our favorite potions master!

Friday, 6-8 pm Transformation: From Influence to Inspiration at the Musée Conti Wax Museum. Dr. Anne Hiebert Alton, professor of English at Central Michigan University and expert in children's, fantasy, and Victorian literature, will present on the various genres that have influenced the Harry Potter series, from folk tales to pulp fiction. Before the lecture, attendees will have private access to New Orleans' Musée Conti Wax Museum, which features historical exhibits and a "haunted dungeon." Cash bars will be available.

Saturday, 8 pm Artists and Authors Night. On Saturday evening, Phoenix Rising will showcase the creativity of the online fan community surrounding the Harry Potter series. The Artists and Authors Night programming will feature a tremendous array of elements, including: fanfiction readings and art portfolio showings; interactive challenges; creative booths devoted to writing and art; roundtables and workshops; a room dedicated to online fan websites and groups; a sketch-in; and many other activities focusing on the aspects of the fan community. This is only if other friends are attending and I haven't made other plans.

Sunday, 8 pm Masquerade Ball. For four hours on Sunday night, Phoenix Rising will experience a bit of Mardi Gras revelry at the Masquerade Ball. In the grand tradition of New Orleans, attendees will costume themselves, don their masks and participate in a tradition that dates back to the Italian Renaissance. Identities will be a mystery until midnight, when the masks are removed, though neither a costume nor a mask is required. Cash bars will be available, as will a quieter space for those who prefer chatting to dancing.

Monday, 8 am Coda: Breakfast, Awards and Auction. Before departing, join us for one last event. Breakfast will be served buffet-style from 8:00 — 10:00 a.m. Following breakfast, awards will be presented, including prizes and recognition for Games, Exploratory Programming and L'Université des Arts Magiques' Pirate Gold. Finally, our auction of unique Harry Potter, fantasy and New Orleans items will take place, so attendees can carry a bit of Phoenix Rising home with them.

I really want to attend the Henry Jenkins From Fan to Fanfiction thing on Saturday night, but then again, I'm thinking I might end up with other plans.

And I'll definitely be showing up each night to watch movies. Well, if I'm still conscious, that is. hee! Transformation: From Story to Screenplay. Vicky Dann, of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts Department of Film and Television, will present a series of lectures before late-night screenings of the Harry Potter films. Attendees are encouraged to — as in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban — view the films from the vantage point of a squashy purple sleeping bag, which may be purchased as part of the registration process for Phoenix Rising.

Anyone else signed up for any of these yet?

Yeah, I totally agree. That's why I only signed up for one keynote event, the Friday night thing. The Saturday thing is pretty much optional.

I'm so excited!

Hey, have you booked the room yet?
