I finally got ahold of one of the stores hosting a trunk show for me. I've been calling them for a week, wondering why I hadn't heard from them.

Turns out their store burned down.

Tried to talk to the woman at that other store, where I really, really, really want to do a show, and somehow missed her twice by mere inches.

I went into work today to the day job, and they piled tons of work on me, and now I have to go in tomorrow too, which was to be my last "huzzah" of time to myself before I leave for two months.

All in all, I'm hoping that I get to rest on Saturday (well, before I start loading for the show on Sunday). I've gone to bed before 11 two nights in a row. That can't be good.

Oh no! So that's one less show scheduled for your trip? How dreadful for the owners of the burned-out store, but also, poor you.

I detest it when my job impinges on the free time I try so jealously to guard for myself. Those moments of decompression and, well, self-indulgence (in my case) are what make it possible to plunge back into the unavoidable stream of necessity. I need to be serene, even stagnant, at times, in order to meet the usual demands that govern my life. So I hope you're allowed a break before you load up and pull out for two nomadic months.

Will you be completely out of touch during that time? If so, alas. Little though I comment, I'll miss your lovely posts. :(

They are wonderful people, and I'm so sad for them. They thought they'd have another location by the time I got there, but the new lease company is very sloooow, and it's taking forever.

It wasn't really a great show last year, but they were so nice that I wanted to do it again. Thankfully, I have a customer there who contacted me, and she's awesome, so at least I have someone to hang out with. ;)

I couldn't agree with you more. I always need time to myself, just for sanity's sake. On this sort of trip I'm always moving, always thinking about the next thing, always driving or loading or unloading or talking...it's a tough time, and I really wanted at least a bit of slowdown before I leave. But the closer I get, the more things pile up! This weekend is already a disaster.

Usually I'm completely out of touch. But this time it does look like I'll be staying with more friends, and I'll probably be able to at least post a few entries. I think catching up with the flist, however, might be a bit impossible, as I will get too far behind this time. :(
