I missed the last LJ Permanent Account offer because I was out of town. They only run it for 24 or 48 hours, if I remember correctly.

Now I find that they're doing it again within the next few months.

I will be home approximately six days of the next three months. What are the chances I'll be able to take advantage of this?

I meant to tell you that they have actually raised the limit on how many people you can friend and watch and stuff. Don't know if it will help you, but I meant to tell you. And now I actually have.

At 500 LJ stops displaying them properly on the profile - it goes from a nice, easy to read blot of information to ten pages of icons. Hassle! So I use that 500 as my cut off limit. I can't cope with 500 as it is.

I unfriended 10 people last night, but they appear to be people who have abandoned LJ anyway.

Some of the database improvements we've been making have finally allowed us to up some of our limits! Starting immediately, we've raised the friend limit from 750 friends to 1000 friends for Basic, Plus, and Early Adopter accounts, and 2000 friends for Paid and Permanent accounts. (That sound you hear right now is fandom and RPG participants shrieking with delight. Hi, guys!)

Hmm...obviously I remembered this useless bit of information for nothing, because it has nothing to do with anything. Oh, well. ;)

It's not the friends limit that's 500, it's the display limit.

But I use the display limit as an arbitrary personal limit because I just can't keep up with more than 500 people! I took 10 people off last night, but because I only took off people who haven't used their journals in like 40+ weeks, that won't keep my reading time down ;)

If you don't think you're going to be staying on LJ for at least another five years, don't even bother with it, seriously. I wish I'd never bought mine. There are no benefits to having a permanent account anymore.

The benefits *are* fairly slim (although personally I like the idea that I don't have to actually think about renewing my account ever).

I remember coming home after the event, and seeing that you had purchased one.

Honestly, I wish I could have bought it last time; it would have been worth it for me at that point. I mean, I'd like to be on LJ for another five years, but you just never know what's going to happen. A couple years ago it would have made a lot more sense than it does now.

I really like LJ a lot, but I don't always have that long an attention span...still, I think I will do it, if just to allay the worry of renewing.

I'll even put it on my credit card and you can reimburse me when you return. Maybe they'll let me buy one as a gift like you can buy months or years for people?
