I went through the rest of my books yesterday. The mass market size. I had three boxes of them...and now I have only one and a half. Go me!

I now have four big paper bags of paperbacks for the library.

I really was absolutely heartless. I realized how much I've changed as a reader when I sorted them.

Gone: Anne Rice, all Forgotten Realms books, all Dragonlance except the first Dragons trilogy and the Chronicles trilogy, some fantasy books I purchased while I still worked at Waldenbooks but never read and am not ever going to read, half of the Mercedes Lackey books (I kept the Magic's series, and the Arrows series, and a few of the Serrated Edge books), all Raymond Feist, all Patricia Cornwall, Stephen Lawhead, all R A Salvatore (good riddance!), Douglas Adams, Alan Dean Foster...it was quite freeing. If I thought I wasn't going to read it again or even for the first time...off it went.

Kept: Louise Cooper (of course!!), some Mercedes Lackey, Michael Moorcock because I have to read them at some point, Jennifer Roberson, nearly all Neil Hancock, all Melanie Rawn, CJ Cherryh's Faded Sun trilogy, sentimental Little Golden Guides about insects, reptiles, etc., all the old Han Solo and the x series, some assorted fantasy novels that still seem interesting.

I am missing some books...then again I haven't gotten to the bottom of the closet. I'll keep checking. I'm going to try to get through the entire closet today and look at all of the items mercilessly. I know I have some things that I can get rid of. It will be very nice to add to the eBay pile. I really have to get a move on with that...but I'm still trying to develop the legalese that accompanies each item, and I still am working on figuring out the best categories for the items that I have to sell.

Must go shopping today as well. Christmas is nearing, after all, and I need to start getting busy.

Chapter 58 is nearly done, and I'm happy about that, though this morning I thought of several revisions to make. I'll be uploading it today, though, which makes me happier than I can believe. Only problem is, I'll be off the outline again. I have less than a week (story time), and during that time I have to plant subtle signs of emotional involvement that will pay off when the week is over. Subtle enough that I will be happy with it; unsubtle enough that most readers will be happy with it.

I am, quite suddenly, up to 54 on the flist. Happy that makes me.

I'm so far behind. I'm up to chapter 54, but took a sleeping pill before I started reading and couldn't make it any further. It's bad when you're like Severus who?

I can completely understand...when it's really late at night I can't remember who the initials stand for in pairings (SS/RL etc.) and I click on the wrong stories. That's when I know it's time for bed.

Wow, you made it to chapter 54! That's great! I always appreciate your concrit, too.

I'm one of the new flistees, so hello!

I had a huge book clear out last year because I was running out of space and a friend was collecting for a charity book sale, and I think I was a bit too heartless. Every now and then I think, "What was that book?" and go and look for something then remember. And to make matters worse, this year we've built a bookshelf across a whole wall, so I've got plenty of space. At least it gives me an excuse to get more books to fill it up!

Hello to you too! :) Welcome, and beware of bad poetry and references to salmon mousse.

All of my bookshelves are completely overfilled at the moment, so I am very happy that I've been able to cull so much. I went through the hardcovers and trade sized paperbacks earlier, and that cleared up the problem of having two rows of books to some shelves. I'm thinking about going through them again, though. I'd love to have new bookshelves built and such, but unfortunately, I'm in an apartment, and will be saving all such projects for when I get a house.

I know what you mean about reading tastes.. I used to almost live for My AR Vampire Chronicles but didnt even bother to buy the last one and I used to have two copies of each, one for reading, one for keeping nice! I never read them now.

Isn't that interesting? Books that I used to go insane for now languish on the shelves...I remember when I first read RA Salvatore's Drizzt stuff...I thought it was great...now I read it and wince.

I used to love Douglas Adams so much. The first book made me laugh. Now, I'm just bored by it.

Hey, thanks for reading! Though I must warn you...you have 96,000 words to go should you desire to continue. ;)

I have tried, honestly, to read Terry Pratchett. I have two dear friends who are intense Pratchett lovers, who quote all the time from the books and attempt to read passages to me. There is just something about the tone that turns me off. I don't know why.

I found out recently that it was Pratchett who co-authored Good Omens with Neil Gaiman, and suddenly it all made sense, because even though I love Neil to death, years ago I couldn't get past the first fifty pages of GO. That was before I even knew who Pratchett was. Now I know why. I guess it just doesn't appeal to me for some reason.
