And as far as the controversy goes
Aug. 7th, 2007 02:29 pm...unfortunately, I have just paid for a permanent account. I was thinking (too optimistically) that it seemed like it had returned to normal, but now I see that it was just a calm in the storm.
I did delete my Vox account. And I told them why--that it was my first step, considering the treatment of fandom artists on LJ. Not that they care at all, but what the hell.
I didn't like Vox anyway.
So the long shot is, I've created an Insanejournal, and here I am on Journalfen and GreatestJournal. This is still my primary journal, and I love it, but if fandom migrates, I'll be migrating with it--because that's where it's at, for me.
ETA: Oh, and I found the Brad leaving thing to be a bit worrisome.

Date: 2007-08-07 06:52 pm (UTC)But the timing/sequence of this has been fiendish. I mean, first Strikethrough. Then, they back down somewhat and do the permanent account sale. And only then do they resume with the deletions. It's like a trap, that some people got caught in. And I'm suspecting that this sequence was deliberate.
Anyway, sorry to hear that they got your money before this last round of deletions. Liz Marks said in her post that Ponderosa had a permanent account, too. And that they're not even offering her a refund. That is an astonishingly disrespectful way to treat paying customers.

Date: 2007-08-07 07:07 pm (UTC)Still, if my friends are somewhere else, even if it means fragmentation, then that's where I'll go, as well.
I had a really really bad feeling when 6A bought LJ. I always had this image of LJ being a fun network that a guy had set up for his friends, and I had the feeling that 6A was much more of a business entity, and I thought it might be a sign of difficulty for us. Because someone who thinks of LJers as friends is less likely to come down on us than someone who thinks of us as customers.
Plus, the overwhelming majority of LJers are 12-18, so those are the people 6A will want to target in the future. And as fandom is more in the higher age brackets, we're in the sad minority here, unfortunately.

Date: 2007-08-07 07:30 pm (UTC)I'm sorry to hear about your permanent account. Cordelia is right, it's like a trap. I guess I was lucky that I was broke then.
I'm halfway through your Prophecy pics, btw. You look great as a wizarding rock star.

Oh, thank you so much about the costume compliment! I was so nervous about it that I didn't know what to expect, really.
