I recently had something like that happen...I made a post lamenting the lack of a wishlist on the Levenger website, and someone on GJ who works for Levenger saw it and replied. It's sort of a weird feeling, isn't it?

Crazy, huh? The internet is a small place, after all.

hehe, no need for google-fu when you've got someone checking "referring links". :)

It may be that the person in question set up a "Google alert". It's a service Google offers whereby you can get an automated email every time someone posts a certain phrase (like your name, or the name of your company) on the web.

But it is creepy to find out that, when it comes to the internet, big does not equal anonymous anymore.

I heard of a person who posted a nasty review of a book on their blog only to have the author creep by the same day to politely rebut some of the comments made. Wouldn't that be mortifying?!

I love Google alerts...I have those set up for myself, because I'm a crazy control freak.

I think that [livejournal.com profile] atdt1991's explanation above is probably the culprit, though. ;)

Yes, exactly! It really made me pause. I got the comment email at work and thought, holy cow. Of course, it could be someone yanking my chain, but still...
