I actually got back late Wednesday night, but I've been on a bit of a get-stuff-done kick, so I've delayed my triumphant return entry. Of course, at this point I've waited too long, and the trip is already receding from my mind.

Anyway. I bought too much, saw a lot of fun things, enjoyed myself, and worked and worked and worked, as is the way with these trips.

I did read a few books. Real books! Not fanfic! Srsly!

Let's see...notable things...

  • There's a giant boulder by the side of a freeway in New Mexico. Someone has painted the words "Fraggle Rock" on it.

  • I saw a license plate that read "LOTR" and my fannish heart was quite gleeful.

  • A woman came through one of the shows carrying her doll. She showed the doll the merchandise and asked her if she liked it. She kept shaking it over the different displays. The doll was pretty magnificent--she was attired in a sumptuous outfit, with plenty of accessories. One of the other vendors freaked out and told her to leave his booth.

  • I saw something I've never seen before - a rainbow around the sun. A circular rainbow. It was awesome.

  • There was a huge ice storm in Missouri, and everything was covered in thick, thick ice. Pretty but sad.

  • Watched the eclipse through the sunroof of my car--I guess it is good for something.

  • Am halfway through the livejournals. Whew! I just finished reading the L journals. Then after that, it's off to the insanejournals.

  • On the way home a Snupin story popped into my head and wrote itself, right in front of my eyes, from beginning to end. I hope I have a chance to write it very quickly before it fades.

  • Oh, and the super sekret project collaboration thingy with [livejournal.com profile] gmonkey42 has been greenlit!! Eeee!

I'm so happy to be home.

I bought a very cool list journal (main website here) at a feminist bookshop in AZ. The one I bought has an Ando Hiroshige print on the front. I spent most of the trip trying to organize myself using this journal--I've made about a billion lists, and they're sorted by topic. I'm very excited about this.

My friend, who is also a listaholic, told me the secret--she goes through the list each and every day, revising, adding, crossing off. That's where I fall through, you see; I blunder off the edge and go rudderless through the piles of work, and then by the time I get back to the list, it's outdated.

So. New plan? Listing, each and every day. I must convince myself that this is not a waste of time. And yet, I spent yesterday and today working, and have not consulted the list journal yet. *headdesk*

I missed you, flist!

And THANK YOU to the most wonderful [livejournal.com profile] _grainne_ for her sweet virtual rose gift! *giant hugs* Now if only we could convince them to give virtual squid...

Was it, by chance, in Tucson? (near downtown)

Welcome back!

FRAGGLE ROCK! LMAO!

Oh, what was up with the doll woman? Did you get a picture? I saw someone like that on Dr Phil or Oprah or something like that years ago.

Fraggle Rock made me laugh like an idjit, I have to admit!

And I wasn't present for the doll woman, much to my regret. There's always next year, though!!

eBay Boycott Feb. 18-25

FYI, there's a listing boycott going on over on eBay right now. People are avoiding buying and selling until after Feb. 25th.

It's all in protest of all the bizarre new rules and new fees that eBay is foisting upon its Sellers. A good number of Sellers are so fed up that they're closing up shop and going elsewhere to sell.

And FYI: the new Final Value Fees kicked in a few days ago. You now get to pay 8.75% (as opposed to the old 5.25% FVF). eBay dropped the listing fees a tiny bit and added Free Gallery pics but they make you still pay for it in the back end with the much higher FVFs.

And don't get me started on the new Feedback rules that will start up in May. Sheesh! I'm so annoyed!

Wow, this makes it sound like ebay is being run by LJ.

I'm beginning to wonder about that myself.

Have you heard about the feedback? Sellers will now ONLY be able to leave positive feedback! Isn't that the most insane thing?

I routinely ignore messages from ebay--I've learned they are almost always something stupid.

I'm blown away by eBay's fb announcement--this is troubling news. I'm not certain that it will have its "intended" effect, either. What craziness, eh?

Unfortunately, I already had my auctions scheduled to go, lol! They were scheduled to start while I was away, and knew nothing of this strike.

For me, it must be business as usual, I'm afraid!

I listed a few items the week before the strike and went for 5-day auctions so that I wouldn't conflict with the strike dates. Oddly, I did better this time around than I usually do. Managed to sell several lots I'd been hoping to get rid of for some time.

Go check out the Seller's Forum on eBay. It's been non-stop angry posts since the eBay announcements were made 3 weeks ago.

BTW, there's usually always folks hanging out in #lupin_snape in the evenings. Come by for a chat. :)

I read a little from the Seller's Forum and--wow! People are really fired up about this, and not in a good way.

YAY!! You're back! The place hasn't been the same without ya!! Glad you had a good time! The doll must have had good taste if she bought any of your things!

Fraggle Rock!! I think I've seen that...don't you love the southwest? Did you go to the Four Corners? Awwww, I miss it all so!

I'm a bit of a listaholic too...my favorite thing in the world? Crossing things off a list...I will break up a task into about 100 different subtasks...just so I'll have more to cross off!!

hee! I'm so glad to be home, honestly. Being away for so long is a breath of air away from lots of responsibilities--but after awhile, you do want to get home, even if it means taking a big reality pill! lol.

The lists are my friends...the lists are my friends...I will use them for good...ha!
