Delays.

I was supposed to leave this morning for WI (and then AZ).

The neck pain which subsided has now returned in full force, due (I think) to a new pillow I purchased. My neck and my entire left shoulder blade are completely paining me.

I finished (very nearly, just a little bit of proofing left) chapter 62 but I cannot upload it without chapter 63 because I don't want people to be upset and have to wait a month before they get the other half. And I keep thinking to myself, better to wait a month and have it exactly right then to just finish it quick and get it out there, anyway, because these two chapters are mega-important and filled with a lot of action. Too bad I can't type for more than about ten minutes...my neck just hurts too much. Otherwise I'd finish both and upload them. I'm really bummed about it, but it's probably for the best.

I've been spending a lot of time on the couch with a heating pad. I watched the Mummy with the director's commentary turned on. It was interesting, except I began to realize that they write the scenes up, a bunch get excised, and then they just flail wildly until everything comes together, which is not the approach I expected. Then again, it is Stephen Sommers we're talking about here, and it's not like I expect Gosford Park from him. The Mummy was quite entertaining, but the Mummy Returns/Van Helsing (and, I hear, the Scorpion King) were...not good. Really. Oh well. I think he had to go through so much justification for the Mummy, and so many fights with Universal, that it really sharpened the movie into a good balance of action, humor, and horror. Then he received larger budgets, and look out.

Am halfway through Underworld, the new extended version, and so far I can't see anything new, except a line here or there and a 30 second snippet, so apparently it is 23 minutes of teeny little extra exposition and single lines that were cut away probably for length. No major developments. But the movie appeals to me in some way, despite the fact that it's not a very good movie, really. It is better than Van Helsing, though. Heh.

Had a scary moment today when I checked out the newest DS or QQ (I forget which)...there was a link to a musesfool entry about mistakes in fanfiction. "Nooo!" I said out loud, because I've seen her name before several times, and I thought, well, I just spent all that time working on a 6,000+ word entry about the very same thing, and now no one will check out mine when it shows up on DS. Fortunately hers was just a little entry, and I am much relieved. When I get back I will put it up.

So I'll be leaving tomorrow morning...will make my goodbye entry then.

Yeah, chapter 62 still needs streamlining...usually I read through once and correct everything, and then leave it, and then read it through again and make more corrections. It still needs more corrections, which is too bad, but there's no way that I can sit at the computer and finish it and write 63, even though I'm home for one more day because of the pain in the neck and the weather. :( I can't wait to get these chapters out because they're really big...it's killing me to wait...
