So tell me...what's the best software for screencapping? I want to take some screencaps of DVDs while they're played in WMP 11. Any advice would be appreciated. Tried Screen Hunter 5.0 freebie, but got only black screens, despite following their five-step process for making screencaps that aren't, well, black screens. Also, the instructions mention that you should set "capture what" to "movie," but I have a feeling that's only an option for the Pro version. *headdesk*

Also, don't mind paying $20-30.

Must uninstall this bastard program--it's wreaking havoc with the cursor and keeps tiling my windows. grah! I hate tiling.

I don't know if this is the BEST, but I use PrintKey2000. It's free, which is a huge point in its favor. *G*

I use FastStone Capture. That link goes to version 5.3. There are more recent versions available, but 5.3 is free and the later versions are not.

And some examples of caps I've done recently with it.

Hey back!

I use Power DVD, but it came with my computer...not sure if you can purchase it. But it makes fab caps!

I use VLC:

Free as a feather; works every time. That's how I screencapped every single frame of Eisenstein.

I use Cineplayer. Its bloody awesome. On the control panel it has a little pic of a camera and you can cap away at your hearts content.
I can't remember where I got it from, might have come with something else I bought. Let me know if you can't find it for free online and I can always figure out how to file share or mail you a copy.
