The happy wagon
Jul. 22nd, 2009 10:47 amAs always, I have highs and lows. This week is a huge high for me, because I'm home for only four days, but I am geeked because:
a) I have a clear plan of action
b) said clear plan of action involves many OCD-lovely tasks which are not overwhelming but actually rather attainable, and some have already been completed
c) the guy is coming out at 1 today to pick up all of the leftover garage sale stuff
d) Husband took my car and is getting oil changed and checking tire pressure for me
e) tomorrow I leave for a very small show up north that I love to do because it's in my parents' teeny little town and I get to see my parents for a whole weekend
f) I discovered a big stash of crafted merchandise so I will be the best-stocked I've ever been at this show. I'm taking all of my Etsy crafted stuff because right now my Etsy shops are in flux so none of the crafted stuff is listed, and I found a drawer FULL of stuff that was supposed to be listed eventually but I never got around to it because of the move.
Also, I've been writing. Another 1k for the Giant Scary Riptide Fic. I have such hope that it will be done fairly soon. I'm so excited. I think I've reached the two-thirds mark, honestly. I've been going day-by-day in exhausting detail, and I think after this section is done, I can start skipping ahead in time. However, before I can skip ahead, I need to decide one huge thing, and I'm a little stymied about what to do.
And how squeeful is it that, as long as everything goes to plan, I will have a clean garage by tonight? GUH.

Date: 2009-07-22 06:28 pm (UTC)There isn't a ton of horror in this, but there is a slice of it, and that's why I'm so worried about this. I keep thinking that people will see it and go, "EEK" and not read any further.
As I write, I section it for LJ and prepare entries, and I'm on entry #8. I keep thinking, are people ready for two weeks of 6-9k entries? jeepers, this thing is huge.

I hate suspense, though, so when I'm doing a long one, I tend to spend all day posting and get it out all at once. Maybe that's a mistake? Either way, fear be damned! Onward and upward and boldly go...

Aw, wow! You're so sweet! I'm completely blushing right now. I mean, I'd put Tinx & Oddmonster right at the top of both of those lists, m'self, but it's nice to hear. ;)

hee! I'm still trying to catch up on Bonefish, honestly. I'm at part four.
Personally, I'm the same way--publish it all in one go! But I think that sometimes it overwhelms people. Plus, some people don't go back and read old entries, so if they're not on LJ that day, they'll miss it entirely. Spreading it out seems to ensnare more victims--er, readers, I think. Though I could be wrong. heh.

Date: 2009-07-22 07:05 pm (UTC)I guess you tolerate suspense better than I do. Although now that I think about it, during one of those big honkin' ones (it might have been Meiner) some people missed the first couple and kind of wandered in confused in the middle. That was why I set up a schedule for the Drabble Project (which has a name now, but will probably still always be known as the UDP) and let 'em sweat. It was fun. *g*

Date: 2009-07-22 08:09 pm (UTC)Y'know, I have no idea how that ended up there like that. I mean, I have a feeling that it isn't counting unique views, only views, and I might have accidentally inflated that myself by rereading a few pages several times. lol.
Still, I always consider myself as kind of a middle writer--middle popularity, middle talent, y'know? So it's sweet to hear other opinions.
