So Husband told me this morning that I had to go out and take pics because we had an unusual frost. A spiky frost.

How right he was! I know I'm pushing my luck by putting up two image-intensive entries on one day, but this is one of those rare photo ops you just can't pass up.

First up, a branch with frost so you can see how spiky it got. Very cool.

Branch with frost

Branches with berries. I tried taking pics of the apple tree, especially one with a withered apple, but it didn't come out.

Some of the trees.

Trees

The pond, but a closer view than usual.

Branches and pond

And the high grass at the edge of the pond.

Grass against the pond

The butterfly bush. I love the pic of the leaves.

Butterfly bush blossom

Buttefly bush leaves

Y'know, I'm glad that we left these two bushes out front, just so I could get these pics. eee! I love them.

Frost on the arbor vitae

Evergreens. The frost was not very spiky, but still photogenic.

Evergreen, long view

Evergreen closeup

Two lackluster photos, but thought you might want to see a deer track.

Awesome! I've seen frost (of course) and we get ice storms fairly often, but I've never seen spiky frost.

Very pretty! I like the spiky frost, it looks like a little pelt on the branches and leaves. :-)

It was such a wonderful, unusual frost! And it's already gone. The sun came out a little, and it all just disappeared. I'm so glad Husband told me, or I wouldn't have gone outside to see it!

Oh wow, dandelions! I was looking through the pond pics from the summer and missing the warmth and the sun.

But I really do like the look of winter. Just not the temperature!

It reminds me of the crystals that form in one of our IV medications at work. They spike up all over the inside of the vial, and melt away when the vial's placed in warm water. <3 It's so neat.

Isn't that amazing? Great pics. I saw something rather like this recently when I was visiting my parents, who live in the middle of the woods, no neighbors for 2 miles. They'd had an ice storm and all the trees where bent and covered in ice, and then when it snowed next, just an inch or so, the trees had that same spiky look that you've got here.

Hey, thanks so much! I am happy with them, despite really just pointing and shooting like a cavewoman. ha!

It's such a fascinating phenomenon. I love how it looks all dangerous and scary but it's really super delicate and fragile. Wonderful. And it looked so much prettier in person. Wish I could have really captured its beauty!

Thanks for the comment!!
