There is no humanly possible way for me to get everything done that needs to get done this week.

I wasn't supposed to work at the day job again until Aug 17th. However, I came in on Fri, and am now coming in Mon, Tues, & Weds of this week. And maybe Thurs, though I hope not. You see, they decided that they want me to replicate the Giant Project I do every year for them, and do it...now. Which is fine, but it comes at a time when I don't have any time. And it takes two months to do, generally, and I have...four days.

I have a show on Sat & Sun. I have not crafted any items for it. I'm still processing merchandise for the merchandise side (I do half merchandise, half crafted items at this show). I'm almost done with the processing, and then I still need to divide it and pack it all in the car. Which means I have to track down everything I need for the show. And then I still need to do the usual; print signs, price the crafted items, etc.

I would like to craft some stuff for it, but I don't know when I'll have time.

EBay listing tonight; clothing auctions. They're ready to go, thank goodness.

EBay merchandise auctions; ending tonight. Will need to send out invoices and package stuff, etc.

Tomorrow night; new eBay merchandise auctions. Not ready to go. I've just started editing the pics, and I need to finish this and get the auctions written out.

EBay merchandise for store: need to restock a little more if possible, especially today because auctions are ending.

Etsy merchandise: finished pics. Just need to list things every so often today and for the next three nights.

Garden: needs weeding terribly.

I'm supposed to leave Thurs morning (originally: Weds morning) to go up to my parents' place (which is where the show is). What are the chances that all of this will be done before I leave? Yeah.

After I get back from the show, I will have to work another day, and then it's off to Indiana for another show, this time working for my friends. And then I bring their boys with me when I come home, and it's a week of entertaining them, which will be a lot of fun, but it will also require energy, lol. And then it'll be back in WI for a few days of work, and then home.

I will finally breathe freely again in mid-August.

Such is the life I have chosen. *grins*

lol. Those are the better clones. The worse ones usually fall into the pond while chasing dragonflies and are never heard from again.

Okay, where are you getting these clones from, dude? I think your supplier might be faulty.

Weirdly enough, finishing up today's story involved deus ex dragonfly, and Cody lighting one of his farts to save his life. \m/

Like I said, you need a better supplier.

Oh, it's not my supplier's fault; that's just how Valises are, you know? They eat chocolate, wander around looking at dragonflies, and are distracted by hairy chests a stunning amount of the time.

And deus ex dragonfly? And Cody--what? *blinks*

Both integral to the plot, my friend. The second glowworms story is finished! Rar!

Now all it needs is a title.

Okay, but what if all the valises were like linked somehow, like what if you got them all terminals or got all of them pots of beads and some string? Would this not be productive?

Huzzah for glowworms! I can't wait to read it.

Let me know if you want help with a title.

And if all of the valises were linked, I think we would end up with a) a worldwide shortage of chai, and b) a worldwide drain on bandwidth while they all looked at pictures of Joe Penny online.

And maybe c) a very tired Husband.

Heh.

I'd love help with the title. So far all I have is "Glowworms Go For a Sail", which is not very exciting and doesn't make sense unless I post the other one to the comm as "Glowworms Go on the Hunt" and then I have a theme which even makes sense for the next one. (Yes, today has been productive).

But it's a hella boring theme.

I managed to get a huge chunk done tonight, so that's something. Hopefully this means I will get ahead of the stuff I need to do at home.

The stuff at work, though, that's what's making me freak out. I'm worried about finishing the job. I will totally need Italian!Grant to help me out, lol.

That company needs to receive an anonymous letter saying "A lack of planning on your side does not constitute an emergency on my side!" Or maybe it would make a good wallpaper on your PC.

Be careful with doing two months worth of work in four days. You can only loose. if you manage, they'll want that every year, but at the same time they'll complain it doesn't have the quality they expected. If you can't... well, you know the answer. Loose-loose situation.

On the other stuff: what they said *points up* One step at a time, one thing after the other, gets the most done *hugs*

Be careful with doing two months worth of work in four days.

Oh, yes, this is scaring me massively, for the reasons you list. I have no desire for them to think I can always do it in such a short period of time.

*hugs* Thank you for your kind words!!

Oh dear ... I hear you on that. *hugs*

It's a bit of the same here for me - I thought I would have lots of time from July on, but now July is packed to the gills with stuff - job-wise, fun-wise, meet up wise - and it's just too much.

I found that the only thing that helps me is to take a deep breath, prioritise, and then do one thing at a time. If I try to do it all at once, I freeze up and nothing gets done at all.

I knew the summer would be packed--but I didn't realize it would be this packed. And you understand, being self-employed, how much of a hit it is to lose four days of home working time (and prime working time at that). I thought I would be totally prepared for the show--maybe even over-prepared--and now I'm going to barely have time to put it together, much less prepare. :(

Thanks for the kind words. You're wonderful! *hugs*

Just an idea, related to what Jaelle mentioned: would it be possible for you to demand an extra pricing from them for the speed? That way, you could make it clear that this is not going to be the standard procedure from now on. Or you give them a negotiated minimum now - and the rest later.

Project management tells us that between scope, time and money, you cannot give your maximum performance on all three scales at the same time.
