Some days, you just don't win

I've been a little tense about the reception of the giant fic; and it goes to show me, oh so vividly, that when you write something and you end up writing it mostly for yourself, the not-yous that read it are not going to be as enamored of it. So there's that. I was a little sad but I'm trying to feel better about it, as there are people who are very happy with it, and in fact truly seem thrilled with it. In the long run, having a few readers who are passionate about a story is probably better than having nobody reading it, or unhappy readers, right? I am just going to look at this as another learning experience and keep moving forward. At least I have another novel writing experience under my belt.

I did realize that, based on what people are saying, I've left out a key scene and I must remember to scribble in a few new lines to explain what happened to one character. I think I know exactly what to do, which rocks my socks. It's cartoonish, but hey, the show was, too. Hence why I love it so much. Truth, love for your brother, and grey jeans; it's the Riptide way.

In other news, I'm behind on everything. I have a set of eBay store stuff to prep and list, and I need to make more crafted items, and I need to blog, and tweet, and it's already 7 pm and I'm tired tired tired. I think I'm just going to do what I can do before 10 and call it a night.

In fact, I think I might cut back on some of my hours at the day job. They don't have a ton of stuff for me to do right now, and I have more stuff going on at home that I really want to work on.

ETA: And the more I think about it, the more I am amazed that people have read such a long, talky, looong fic and been so enthusiastic about it. I think I should count myself as truly lucky that anyone at all found it interesting!

Oh yes, there is lots of lovely Riptide fic in pier56! Honestly, we're so spoiled, because we have so many really good writers. :) We don't have much in the way of artses, sadly, just some great wallpapers and manips.

Oh dear--have I mentioned that this is Riptide and not HP? I hope I have. It's over at pier56. You can't miss it, it's the last eight entries, lol (and there are still six more, I can't believe it).

It's a lot of extended h/c and it's slashy and it's a slow burn. Pretty much my weapon of choice. *grins*

The fb is very wonderful, and I'm amazed at how people seem to be sustaining their wonderful feedback for each entry. It's quite impressive because...well...long fic is long. *grins*

*grins* I do find such comfort in their cartoonishness on the show. But hopefully the cartoonishness of the plot in this fic won't throw people off. *crosses fingers*

Congratulations on completion of a big giant fiction! :-) The sense of accomplishment must be incredible! I hope you are not making yourself too crazed with all the things you *need* to do - sounds like a full plate and then some. So...deep breaths, follow your "to do" list, cross things off, and let stuff go for another day when they don't get done. I admire your energy and drive!

I so wish you wrote in the S&H fandom!

I am totally happy that it is now Thursday night, and I have a nice weekend ahead of me. I have a little get-together Saturday, which I'm excited about, and then past that I will spend the rest of the time working on business stuff. And yes, I will be sure to pace myself!

I have thought about writing S&H--which is quite unusual, because it's rare that I ever think about writing anything but the one or two fandoms I usually write for. I might do it, though. They are so pretty! And so melodramatic, which I adore. I am majorly into melodrama. *grins*

I will point out that Riptide has been called the Starsky & Hutch of the eighties...lol!

I absolutely love Hutch, too, even though they're both lovely. But Hutch just gets to me. I remember watching the show as a kid, and being completely mesmerized by Starsky, but apparently my brain has flipped now. lol!
