Pond pics: snow
Mar. 7th, 2011 12:04 pmYes, I have finally gotten around to putting up more pond pics! Here's the first set of snow pics (lol, now that the Spring is nearly here).
12-7-10 First snow that stuck, I believe.

12-8-10 Clouds!

12-12-10 This was a day of Much Snow. It just kept falling and falling. I can't remember how much accumulated, offhand. This was not one of the Snowmaggedon days. I took pictures every hour or so.

The hawthorn tree is quite blanketed here.

I have no idea why I took this pic through the window instead of with the window open as usual. Maybe to show how much snow was on the window? Weird. That's what I get for doing this months after the pics were taken.

Date: 2011-03-07 06:03 pm (UTC)Last year, though, we were completely lucky and had almost no geese at all! No ducks, either, though. The only thing we had regularly was a little Green Heron. Occasionally we get common egrets and blue herons. There are some wonderful turtles, particularly a large Blanding's turtle, and there are tons and tons and tons of frogs and tadpoles.
Check out my pond pics (http://valis2.livejournal.com/tag/pond%20pics) tag and you'll see about a year and a half's worth of photos through the seasons. I've been really behind on sharing and I have a whole backlog--usually I post these every couple weeks.

Date: 2011-03-09 10:10 am (UTC)There is such a difference between snow just on the ground, and snow *everywhere*. It looks so much colder! Brrr...
Now you must hurry and post the snow pics quickly so you can catch up to Spring! ;-)

Date: 2011-03-09 11:14 am (UTC)It really has been a snowy winter. Our pond is noticeably higher (we've had a couple near-thaws)!
