What was the first cassette single you ever purchased? I've purchased them so rarely...hm. Something by Candlebox. I only like one song and I didn't want to buy the CD for it.
What was the first lp (album on vinyl) you ever purchased? "Dark Side of the Moon", by Pink Floyd, or maybe "The Wall"
What was the first single (on vinyl) you ever purchased? "Walk Like an Egyptian" by the Bangles
What was the first CD you ever purchased? "Red Rain" by Peter Gabriel

What was the first cassette single you ever purchased? I don't really purchase singles, although there was one tape by Hootie and the Blowfish that I bought only because of one song on it.
