I thought of this at work today...I've seen variations, of course, but this is just a simple little thing.

What was the first cassette tape you ever purchased? "So Red the Rose" by Arcadia
What was the first cassette single you ever purchased? I've purchased them so rarely...hm. Something by Candlebox. I only like one song and I didn't want to buy the CD for it.
What was the first lp (album on vinyl) you ever purchased? "Dark Side of the Moon", by Pink Floyd, or maybe "The Wall"
What was the first single (on vinyl) you ever purchased? "Walk Like an Egyptian" by the Bangles
What was the first CD you ever purchased? "Red Rain" by Peter Gabriel
What was the first CD single you ever purchased? "Crucify" by Tori Amos

Add your list...take it to your journal...ignore it entirely...all up to you, as always, my lovely flist.

I think it was..."Only You"? I don't know, I've forgotten. It was only a dollar and something nasty happened to it rather quickly.

The thing about this meme is that it is going to ber very hard for me to remember all this. But I will try (I know how horrible it is when you make a decent meme, and people ignore it, simply because it requires a bit of thought)...

First cassette: Black Sabbath? It might have been... (My father was a huge fan).
First cassette single: Alice Cooper: Poison.
First vinyl LP: I never bought one - my parents' record player broke.
First vinyl single: As above.
First CD: REM Out of Time (I think).
First CD single: I don't buy singles, I filch them off the 'net. ;)

Yeah, I wasn't certain about putting the singles in there, simply because I just barely remember them myself.

Poison! I love that SS/LM vid to that song...it's fun.

What was the first cassette tape you ever purchased? A best of Suzi Quatro compilation.
What was the first cassette single you ever purchased? I only had about three of these... I think the first was a kid's song called "Bob the Kelpie" by Don Spencer (who is now Russell Crowe's father-in-law!).
What was the first lp (album on vinyl) you ever purchased? Another compilation; it was called "All the Hits '83" or something like that. It had "Moonlight Shadow" and "Karma Chameleon" on it anyway.
What was the first single (on vinyl) you ever purchased? "It's A Sin" by the Pet Shop Boys
What was the first CD you ever purchased? Probably "Bitch Epic" by Deborah Conway, thus updating my favourite cassette (and source of my LJ name!).
What was the first CD single you ever purchased? "Passenger" by Powderfinger.

What was the first CD you ever purchased? Something of Extreme's.

What was the first single (on vinyl) you ever purchased? See above.
What was the first CD you ever purchased? "Third Eye Blind"
What was the first CD single you ever purchased? I just burn copies off my brother or the 'net, most of the time.

The guy from Third Eye Blind is so hot...and so crazy. Didn't he date Vanessa Carlton or some other female recording artist? Someone who eats a lot of pomegranates.

Hmm, not sure I can remember exactly, but I'll try!

What was the first cassette tape you ever purchased? I think it was 'Make it Big' by Wham.

What was the first single (on vinyl) you ever purchased? This was also Wham - I think it was 'Last Christmas'.

What was the first CD you ever purchased? REM's 'Automatic for the People'

Can't remember the first LP - possibly Pet Shop Boys, but not sure. I hardly had any LPs - I went straight into buying cassettes. I've hardly ever bought cassette singles or CD singles so I've no idea about those!

Oh, REM has some great songs. I love how easy it is to harmonize with Michael Stipe. They're a great band.

Yes, they're my favourite band and have been for years now. Unfortunately, I've never seen them in concert. My younger sister has seen them two or three times, and even got to speak to Mike Mills at the Glastonbury festival a couple of years ago! I'm so jealous!

I remember buying the cassette...it was the first piece of music I ever purchased for myself. I still love it...bought it on CD a few years ago.

My big box of vinyl languishes in the closet...I still don't know what to do with it. It's not like I'll ever listen to them again. Yet I hate to get rid of them.

Did you buy Power Station as well? ;)

I'm like you; I have quite a few vinyl LPs that I will not part with. I do have a linear turntable, but never ever use it. I bought it "in case" I wanted to listen to any of my LPs about 15 years ago. Hasn't been used but 10 times at the most, I'd guess!

I *love* Power Station. I listened to one of their 45s over and over and over again...Feel the Heat.

I should just sell the blasted things...they're taking up space. I'm starting to come to the conclusion that I will most likely never listen to them either.
