1) If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I have to limit it to one thing? Waaah! Probably my incredible procrastination ability. It really gets irritating sometimes.

2) Favourite book of all time? I cannot possibly answer this question! How can I choose just one? I will try: The Awakening, by Kate Chopin.

3) Which HP character, if any, do you most identify with? I understand where Severus is coming from sometimes...I was bullied too. But I'd have to reluctantly say that Hermione is probably the closest to my character/temperment. The know-it-all thing, the studious nature...

1) In the animal kingdom, who is the master of all? *eyeballs icon and grins*

2) Tell me a travel story. Something funny or poignant or otherwise significant you've witnessed or done during your travels. What a lovely question! Hmmm. Going to Tucson this year, we passed by an exit that had a huge rusted metal sign (at least 50' high) that proclaimed: Rattlesnakes This Exit. Thing is, if you take the exit, you quickly find out that the sign is pretty old and that no one has any rattlesnakes. It was just so well built and sturdy that it outlasted its own shop. Then again, if you read the sign, you might not want to exit. I found it amusing and thought-provoking, because it made me think about all of the things we create, and how long they will last. It must cost more to tear down the sign than the locals will pay, and it is probably something they just put up with and roll their eyes about.

3) In a cage match between the Beatles and Elvis, who would win? I know that I will be kicked out of the Society for Music Appreciation for this, but I care for neither. So I will view this with a cold, cynical light and say that even though Elvis went to war and was probably a bit of a dynamo in a fight, I will give the edge to the Beatles.

4) Dystopia or utopia, which one do you prefer in speculative literature? I love reading about people's utopias! One of my favorite novels it Marge Piercy's Woman at the End of Time, which actually contains both dystopia and utopia. But overall I love utopias. Each one is a map of not only a "perfect country", but a revealing look at the person who wrote it.

5) What is your favourite word, in English or in any other language? I really like "smite". A lot.

Bring on the smiting, I say! There just isn't enough.

Rattlesnakes This Exit

Oh, that's wonderful! :D And so very... hm, all-American roadtrip-y, if that makes any sense. I love obscure highway signage and advertising, especially when you see these throwback-to-past-decades signs.

Also, word on "smite". Greatest past tense, too: "smote". Sounds like a Bavarian yoghurt brand.

Glad you liked the book et al. I also have music for you but I just haven't been able to drag myself to the post office. This week, hopefully. :)

I can't wait to read more...I'm wondering if it will give me a good idea for the Fractured Fairy Tale challenge...though honestly, I already have an idea that I'm burning to write. I think I told you already.

*sings* "I smote the sheriff...but I did not smite the deputy..."
