Having been thrown into that category myself on countless occassions, let me be the first to say welcome! We are the few...the...proud...the Dumb Bitches Of The Internet.
Sadly, being male, unless someone makes a real blunder, I guess I'll never be baptized in the true faith, something I've suspected for a long time. Unless, of course, there's a separate baptismal incantation for males, especially aging males?
Ah, but it isn't that I can't rile things up. It's that when I do, most people don't care. Maybe riling people up isn't my metier anymore. And I used to be so good at it. Sigh. The torch has been passed to a new generation. I'm clearly a has-been.
So there's hope for me yet? I'm not doing a McArthurian not dying, but just fading away?
You'll be pleased to note that I may post something about hate as a mental illness. Maybe that'll prod someone. And I should confess, I made a poor Tory Brit -- a really nice fellow -- apopletic w/ a response to his political post. I think the dear man is still taking great calming breaths. And I thought I was being discreet.
Actually, though, I should confess. I've done my full share of stirring up trouble. (I can give references, if you want.) My goal now is more to find meeting grounds between highly divergent & abrasive opinions, meeting grounds that are productive. Stirring up rage, while sometimes great fun & highly entertaining, doesn't really get me anywhere, most of the time. Except for its cathartic value -- and that I can achieve w/ my wife, though sometimes she gets tired of my rants, even though she agrees w/ them.
That & some therapeutic approaches w/ attachment disorders, are what drives my interest in the pluralistic philosophy of Richard McKeon. Which I've been periodically inflicting on my lj friends. Not to mention it's actually been fun to read & re-read Augustine, Plato, Aristotle, Cicero, etc.
I know. I'm weird. But, unless you try messing w/ one of my kids, I'm generally harmless.
Woot! Congratulations. People call me stuff like that all the time in real life. To my face. Bitch maybe, but I'm not dumb. I think you are also not dumb. They were mistaken in their name-calling.
That's okay, though. It would be nice if they could be more creative. I despair, I really do.

You are not a dumb bitch, you know it, we know it (points up), so wtf does it matter if some anonymouse says it?
I'm so wise.
Console yourself with the thought that that is the only way they can have an orgasm.
Harsh but fair.
