And when you're tagged by the meme queen (the lovely

1. I hate zippers on shirts. And jackets. I rarely buy any shirt, sweater, or jacket that has a zipper on it. It just frustrates me to no end to try to do a zipper up when I'm cold. I'm okay with jackets that have zipper/button combos, because once in a great while I'll do up the zipper if it's really cold out, but generally I prefer buttons, hands down. Shirts? Absolutely no zippers. I really hated that trend we had a few years ago where every sweater in middle America had to have a zipper on it.
2. If I start watching an awful movie halfway through, then it somehow seems...less horrible. Mostly because it's like a puzzle, and any movie where I have to think is worth a bit more than movies where I just watch. I often will try to guess the background of the characters and inject more pathos and drama into them than there should be.
3. I take a bubble bath every morning.
4. I eat my meals in this specific order: veggies, starches, meat. It's because of temperature issues. If I have fries and a burger, then the fries cool down faster than the burger. You see, I hate getting my tongue burnt. It is really a kind of mania at this point.
5. When I read fanfic (and regular fic), sometimes I find myself breaking off from a moment to stare off into space (away from the book/computer) and think about what my Mary Sue would be doing. Or I think about other fics I'm writing. It's a weird thing, really, but when an idea pushes into the brain, I have to stop and address it before I can continue reading.
List your idiosyncrasies if you wish.

Date: 2005-11-09 02:39 am (UTC)I didn't realise you had any characters with eyes like mood rings, veela hair and a mouth fouler than a gutter wizard's that never fails to leave Snape in stunned silence. ;-)

Date: 2005-11-09 02:42 am (UTC)Hee! Not for HP, any longer. I have Sarah for that. ;)
Now, for LotR, I have an awesome little author self-insert who runs around with the Fellowship. Boo-yah!
Gutter wizard! hahah!

Date: 2005-11-09 02:44 am (UTC)I must admit, I'm pretty sure I filched that from Terry Pratchett, and have been using it ever since. :-D

Date: 2005-11-09 03:48 am (UTC)I think every writer thinks about their own stories and characters when reading--especially in fanfic where you are all inhabiting the same world. In fact, I once wrote a short as something of a mental and emotional response to a really bad fic I once read that had a tiny kernel of a good idea in it.

Date: 2005-11-09 11:37 am (UTC)I guess I just thought it was obvious. ha!
Ooh, how lovely is it that you pulled something out like that and were able to use it in a story? That's great.

Date: 2005-11-09 05:35 am (UTC)And here I thought I was the only one with a fierce aversion to zippers.
Don't even get me started on Velcro...

Date: 2005-11-09 11:40 am (UTC)I always think that I don't have anything against brand names, but lately, when you mentioned how you avoid anything that displays a brand name, I realized that I have just about nothing like that in my wardrobe. (Occasionally Lane Bryant has something with their logo or something on it that's just too cute to pass up.)

Date: 2005-11-10 10:56 am (UTC)Little Big Sis and I do this all the time, right down to the complicated backstories we devise for the characters. Most of the time we're so busy figuring out this stuff we miss important parts of the actual movie. Which means more theorizing. It's a vicious cycle.
