I am catching up on the LJ flist, and I'm getting sadder and sadder.

I knew already that the HP fandom would be endangered by the end of the series, but now it's fragmented as well, and I'm really having trouble wrapping my head around having multiple journals. I'm a control freak, as you all know, and I hate the idea of cross-posting, but I also hate the idea of not cross-posting, and I hate the idea of having one main journal, and I hate the idea of having journal-specific entries, and I just feel like I'm watching my internet journaling experience take a nose dive.

Also, I find the idea that HP's parent corporations are going to put the smackdown on slash very chilling. (I can't remember where I read the entry now, damnit.)

*glooms about*

ETA: Oh, and this bit about everyone defriending LJ people so they don't have to read multiple entries? Understandable, but... *glooms even more*

*hugs* Happy birthday to you, too!

Honestly? I privatized everything because I had a reeallly bad year last year, and I don't want to look at some of it anymore, and I had a bunch of old meme trash in there (I think your meme attitude has stretched down South, hee). The editor in me wants to clean up my journal. I'll unlock things again after I've accomplished that. *shrugs* (Yes, you may call me weird, because I am.)

I'm not really in the fandom anymore because I just don't have time for it (my kids just started school and they're both in big-time homework years -- 5th and 3rd grade). I have an origific idea that's I'm giving my limited writing time and attention to. LJ's where I've made my friends, and LJ's where I'll stay unless all of them go ... but most of them don't plan to move.

What's this about slash coming under fire? I hadn't heard about that, probably because I'm so out of the loop. That seems extreme, to say the least, and I wrote het. But the way I see it, you can't target one without targeting both. That's not on.

*sings* "Valis killed the meme-y star...valis killed the meme star..."

The editor in me wants to clean up my journal.

Oh, believe me, I've had the same impulse. I went back and deleted a lot of early meme entries at one point, and added subject lines, too.

Yeah, I get that, honestly. I'm starting to feel like I'm moving away from it too. This last book felt so final. *laughs at self*

It was in a Scottish newspaper, nestled in some article about China and stuff. I don't know how true it is, but if they do--wow, that will really end it for a lot of fans!
