Have just received a curt note from a person who is very peeved because the eBay item I sent her is supposedly not in the package. She claims there was nothing but packing paper in the box.

I remember the box very well. The item is small, clear, and taped in between two plastic bladders. The box it came in is small, and the bottom contained brown packing paper, and then I put the plastic bladders in on top of the packing paper, and then I stick an invoice in the top.

Look, I've accidentally omitted an item here or there over the last couple years. But when the person only buys one? That's why I pack all my boxes one at a time; highly inefficient, but it certainly makes this situation hard to believe.

I really hope she hasn't thrown away the packing material yet. I have a feeling that the item is still sitting in its plastic prison, and she never bothered to check it. You know, at one point, I really thought of writing on the material "item inside this," but then I thought, it's obvious. It's sitting in the top of the box, and the only other thing is paper, and it's taped all the way around--why the hell would you tape something like that together, excepting to surround an item with air-filled goodness? I thought that no one would claim that I hadn't sent the item. *sigh*

EBay, you never cease to amaze me.

Are you sure she isn't mixing you up with some other Seller? You might ask her to take a photo of the item sitting next to the packing box and email the photo to you.

Uh...she claims she doesn't have the item, though. That's what the problem is.

She contacted me and said she'd look through the packing material one more time...for what it's worth. You and I both know that she'll want another.

What was the item? Is it possible that someone at the post office may have opened the box and stolen the item? I've had that happen before, receiving a outer shipping box that was sealed up again (with an empty secondary box inside -- someone had opened box the outer and inner boxes, taken the contents, and sealed the outer box up again).

I can't imagine someone retaping the plastic air pockets back together--it's tricky to tape at the best of times. I think she didn't see it because it was clear--at least, I hope that's what happened! She still hasn't emailed me back.
