Husband and I went on a teeny little canoe trip today.

The day was absolutely lovely.

River start

The river really is beautiful.

River scape

A pretty waterlily blossom.

River lily

I had a picture of a big turtle, but it didn't come out. So here, a couple herons.

River herons

I love the pattern of the water over the shallows.

River shallows

There were sections of the river were it looked like waving prairie grass...unfortunately, the picture can't compare to the subtle, hypnotic wave of the weeds underwater.

River weeds

A bridge from 1888.

River bridge

There was one part of the river that looked like an enchanted faerie realm. It was amazingly beautiful. Sadly, my pictures can't even approximate the lovely look.

River faerie realm

And then we waited to get picked up.

River end

We had such a great time!

These are gorgeous! I've been wanting to go canoeing all summer and haven't...and this is making me want to go even more!

Oh, you should! It's so much fun. We picked a downriver route so that we could mostly coast, and it was SO enjoyable!

It really was! And we were almost entirely alone for the whole trip, too. It was an absolutely perfect day for it. :) *hugs*

Why, thank you so very much! I really wish that I had captured the look better, honestly, because there is one section that just is hauntingly mystical, but this was the best I could do. :)

This is so lovely! I adore underwater grass, so long as I'm not swimmming in it. :)

Yeah, there wouldn't have been many opportunities to swim--it was just a teeny bit on the cold side today! And it was too shallow. :(

I only encounted the grass once (see icon), and it creeped me out. Tickling my feet, making me think something was going to grab me. I both love and hate natural bodies of water anyway, because they're beautiful, but possibly full of tentacles, and maybe zombies. Shallow is definitely the safest. :)

heh. I have a rather hyper imagination as well. I used to live on a lake, though, and I got very used swimming among weeds and muck, lol. ;)

Aw, thank you so much! I wish I could have really captured how beautiful some sections were--these really can't compare.

And Husband is not the best with a camera, lol, so I usually don't ask him.

Thank you so much for the compliment!

It's such a pretty river--and there's a nice current, too, so it's very calming to drift downstream at points. And there was almost no one else on the river, which made it even better!

Been awhile since I canoed or kayaked. I guess on the lake in upstate NY near the home of one of my man's uncles, a couple years ago.

Perhaps next spring or summer... ;)

*hugs*!
