So where is everybody these days?

I'm just wondering. I have accounts at JF, IJ, DW, FB, Twitter. I don't do fannish stuff on FB & Twitter, but I'm not certain there's much of a fannish presence there, considering the size of fics and such.

I haven't been monitoring IJ or DW at all.

Is DW growing? Are there more fics and fans to be found there? Should I start watching DW again?

What are your fannish social media habits like right now, flist? I'm very curious.

ETA: Oh, and where are you archiving? I'm really liking AO3, personally, and I'm seeing that some fandoms are using it more and more.

I monitor DW because I do have some friends on there that are not on LJ. For the most part the fannish community is much smaller, but hey, the site's been around less than two years.

I'm mostly here on LJ, although I do a hell of a lot of random bullshit tweeting on my fandom Twitter. And yes, I've noticed that LJ's been kinda quiet lately when compared to what I'm used to. I've been trying to seek out new fandom friends, but I just don't even know where to start.

I think I'm going to start monitoring DW again. There might be things going on there that I'm missing, friends that I would like to keep up with.

And yeah, omg, I cannot figure out how to get new fandom friends, mostly because...Riptide is just so small, and there are so few new fans coming in. :( I have thought about dabbling in another fandom. We'll see. Right now, I'm still way too consumed with the Riptide boys.

Quite possibly! I'm under the same name at DW if you want to add me (... I totally add all my LJ flisties at DW, though I suppose there are some who keep separate lists).

GAH, the fandom I'm currently flailing about in... IDK, it used to be ginormous, and now it's quieter, but it's scary. I am unaccustomed to not being the one with encyclopedic knowledge of the canon I'm working in, gah.

I understand wanting to dabble in another fandom just to bloody well have people to talk to, but at the same time... it's like you can't really help where your brain fixates, you know?

I will definitely add you when I log in next time! :)

And yeah, fandoms are definitely their own specialized brands of interest. They get big, they get small, things happen, and I sometimes like to just peek in on another fandom and see what's going on.

That's all it ends up being, most of the time; just dabbling, like you say, but you're right--my brain just obsessively revolves around one thing and because I know the canon fairly well it doesn't want to leave. lol.

Also, re: your edit, I archive on AO3. I do have a ficjournal, here, but things go up there, instead.

The only thing I tend to dislike about archives is that they're, almost by nature, less interactive than LJ/DW comms. Even though threaded comments are supported on AO3, people tend to get far less official 'response' to their fics.

I think that the "kudos" thing is very nice, but at the same time, I do really like comments and feedback and such, and I worry that it means that some people who would normally leave a comment are just clicking a button instead. Then again, I'm a little comment-obsessed. lol.

I've actually found that the 'kudos' thing leads to more interaction, not less. I mean, I guess it's easier to click a button rather than comment, but that works both ways--maybe some people who would normally comment won't, but some people who wouldn't comment will click that button.

Eh, I know what you mean, though. I do love comments. ♥

Yeah, there is that--people might be more likely to click a button--people who normally would not have left a comment. Still, I can't help but go, waaaah, I want commentses.
